By issuing Salvage title, Insurance Company is taking themselves out of any liability issues in the future. Does salvage means the car is totaled, not always. Sometimes the car has minor damage but the parts are very expensive. Sometimes the owner does not want to get his vehicle repaired and depending on the Insurance Company and the year of the car, Insurance will pay off the car. If the car gets stolen then Insurance has thirty days to recover the vehicle, if the car is not recovered in thirty days, Insurance pays off the owner and once the car is recovered, it is brought to the auction with Salvage title. We have had Salvage cars with door dings, Salvage theft recovery vehicles with absolutely no damage, Salvage water vehicles with absolutely no water damage.
