Vehicle Detail
This is a relist - the previous winner decided after he won that he really couldn't afford to buy the truck. He was out of state and hadn't really researched shipping costs before he bid, and couldn't fly in and drive home due to work schedule. He never even got to look at the truck, but I figured karma has a way of coming around. Email any questions, and do check into shipping cost if that's part of your plan... Last Year of the Bulletproof Drivetrain - Impeccable FZJ80 from the Desert Southwest Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is the the 40th Anniversary Edition model, one of only 4750 made for the last year of the 80 Series production. It has been exceptionally well cared for since new,and we've done all the things to make sure it will run for a long time. The truck is all original and presents very well, and has a long list of aftermarket add-ons too, like front grill guard, front bra, roofrack, rear cargo mats, and remote keyless entry. The truck has new Michelin LTX tires, and has been in dry NM desert climate all it’s life so there's no corrosion on the underframe of unitized body. In addition to being in the dry desert, this truck has no indication of body work or refinishing. The drivetrain has high miles but has been serviced regularly (synthetic fluids and basic maintenance), and passed the NM tailpipe emission test with no issues. The vehicle has the full interior seating for seven, including the folding/split 2nd and 3rd seat. The truck has the standard glass sunroof and integral sunshade, standard roof rack, rear wind deflector, and side running boards. The truck has a matte black front grill and bumper guard, front bra, receiver hitch for towing, and a slip in rear cargo spill mat. The automatic climate control system and original AM/FM/Cassette/CD unit work flawlessly. You can see the level of care this vehicle received by checking out the pictures. It has been ultra reliable for our family since we bought it from a local Toyota dealership. We have done some minor service items over the years: Regular Oil/Filter Changes (Synthetic Lube) Regular Emission Checks Replaced fan belts Installed Remote Keyless Entry system Brake Service/Renewal (front and back) New Tires New Battery New Air Filter/PCV New Plugs/Wires/Cap/Rotor Replacement Bulbs Front Windshield Glass There are several items that we consider discretionary, but you may want to consider or address: · The power antenna does not go up or down. The motor works, but the plastic track that drives the antenna is damaged inside the spool and the mast is stuck at about 12 inches high. The radio reception is fine, but you could replace the antenna stalk and drive track for about $100 if this was important to you. Installation takes about 10 min. We just lived with the antenna in the fixed position. · Portions of the maple/oak wood trim dash overlay around the gear shift show some minor discoloration from drink spills long ago - this area is flat and has a raised lip around the shift selector. The original adhesive is mostly intact, but the 40th Anniversary wood overlay has lifted slightly (about 1/8 inch) along the rear edge. The overlay could be removed easily, or replaced, but since this is part of the anniversary markings we haven't removed it. · The driver side mirror operates fine, but the mirror face has a minor “jiggle” that’s absent on the passenger side. There are no cosmetic issues with the mirror, but it appears there has been some wear on the mirror glass backing assembly itself. I'm not sure if this can be replaced separately; you might have to buy the whole mirror assembly and just use the mirror insert. Replacement of the entire side mirror assembly is about $150, but if you swap the whole assembly you'd have to paint it to match the rest of the (pewter) exterior. If you just used the mirror part and kept the rest of the shroud, this wouldn't be necessary. · There is one minor indentation on the driver side front fender, near the top of the fender area. It's barely noticeable, but you can see it because of the distorted reflection from certain angles, but since there is no paint scuffing or abrasion this could probably be corrected/minimized by the paintless dent guys. It's is the only significant cosmetic issue I can identify on the exterior of the car, there are a couple of minor scuffs on fender flares, but they are very minor and could be touched up by a good reconditioner. I haven't done that because I'd rather let the new owner decide what to do and who should do it. · The two-tone leather seat surfaces are in very good condition, with no cuts or tears. The outside bolsters (base and back) on the driver seat have some fatigue/minor abrasion wear from entry and exit. We had one area about 2 sq inches on the outside bolster (where the seat belt rubs) reinforced with material under the leather just so so it wouldn't tear, and we had the foam in the bolster underneath that area reinforced at the same with extra foam. Pretty common wear area on all the 80 Series trucks, but no attention is required to the seats now. Over time, this area will need some reconditioning or revitalization, but the whole seat based can be removed from the frame with 4 bolts so this would be an easy thing to do when the time comes. · The hood gas struts are original and don't always have the full force to keep the hood in the raised position. This is mostly an issue if you don't know about it, and is more pronounced in the winter when the strut has lower internal pressure. The hood doesn’t drop immediately, but will lower slowly after a minute or two. Once you know about it, it easy to prop the hood open as an alternative to replacing these gas struts, but they are available as dealer or aftermarket units and are not very expensive. This is a no reserve auction, and I don't end auctions early. This is a very nice truck that has been maintained well it's whole life.
