Vehicle Detail

1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe VIN 217249 Engine P*712435*. ORIGINAL Paint from 1964! This car has its original paint and original interior, is accident free, and has zero bondo. The paint color is Ruby Red that has oxidized over the years. From the photos you can still see a slight sheen, and if finish sanded and treated, the paint will regain some of its original depth and color. It is very rare to find any 356 that has never been repainted. Nothing is hidden, and this is a unique opportunity to finish this perfectly straight car in any color combo (original is red exterior, black interior). The hood has never been kinked, and by the photos you can see the near perfect factory gaps. The rear engine lid has its original perfect factory alignment and gaps. Previous areas with minor rust - rocker panels, door jams, fender closing areas, and front grill/horn areas were all expertly repaired by metal wizard Lyle Vass of RodsnRestos. Original gaps properly aligned and maintained. Engine S/N P*712435* has been rebuilt including crank grind and new bearings by Imer Pipo, Porsche master technician at Riegel Tuning http - the motor has less than 100 miles since rebuild. The engine starts, runs, and sounds perfect. New brakes, master cylinder, king pins rebuilt, new ball joints - virtually all new steering and suspension components. Original 6V electrical - all lights, signals, and electrical works perfectly (except for the clock). There are small dings and scratches as apparent from the photos. Spots on drivers side door are not dents, but areas where the original paint was scratched and paint sanded to bear metal. Also, slight surface oxidation on some of the newly replaced body panels - battery box and fender closing panels. The undercarriage should be treated and undercoated for future protection. Over $15,000 invested in repairs and restoration over and above the base value of the original car (engine rebuild + sheet metal repair+ suspension restoration). Anyone interested in the final color selection of their car, along with having control over the quality of the final finish and interior, should seriously consider. There are virtually no "real" original paint 356's that become available. This car is sold as-is with no warranty. Receipts available upon request. On Aug-31-12 at 08:29:45 PDT, seller added the following information: 1964 Porsche 356 C Coupe VIN 217249 Engine P*712435*. ORIGINAL Paint from 1964! The front seats are not ripped but do have areas where the seams have come undone due to the thread wearing and breaking - this causes a few open slits. They are still very usable. The interior is not the highlight of this car, but demonstrates it is a very original car. On Sep-03-12 at 08:30:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Further to many questions: This car is safety inspected, registered, and is legal to drive. The bare metal exterior panels have been treated to prevent further oxidation, but I would recommend properly stripping and undercoating the bottom of this car, as some of the new panels have slight surface oxidation. The original color code is 6402 - Ruby Red as can be seen on the serial number plate (see additional photos). The door jams and dash are a better representation of the original color, as they have not faded as much. Photos of the sheet metal work can be seen at the website: rodsnrestos.ca/64porsche-11/ Additional high resolution photos can be seen at the website: picasaweb.google.com/113423762415355864130/Porsche356CCoupe This car can be driven as-is, but is really a candidate for new interior and paint. As mentioned previously there are many small dings and scratches - I have tried to represent them as best as possible through the photos - some on the sides and some on the top. Hopefully the high resolution photos help.
