Vehicle Detail
This is a survivor!!! 1962 Mercury Comet S-22 in factory Peacock Blue with blue interior. This car has been garaged since 1987 up until last month. Periodicly started and washed over the years, but not driven over the road. This car starts right up and comes with a good battery. I plan to replace all of the underhood cooling, vacuum and fuel hoses over the weekend, but as of now this is undone. There is minor surface rust on floorboards and in trunk, but as you can see in the pictures, all of these areas are solid and will not need patch panels. Body is extremely nice. It looks like at some point it was repainted, but there are only minor defects. All panels line up nice, doors work and latch beautifuly. Glass is all good. This car will need a brake master cylinder. Other than the master cylinder, I can't see anything else that would prevent it from being driven around town. Tires are new. This is an S-22 model. Front bucket and rear bench with the rear seat embosed. Center console present and fully functional. S-22 emblems on each side of roof. If you are looking for a cruiser, rat rod, father-son project, or budget minded vehicle, this one is perfect! Parts are readilly available and many interchange with Falcon, Mustang, Thunderbird, and other Ford/Mercury/Lincoln/Edsel cars of the day. I've included a picture of the Comet Overhauled did on their show. Another funfact, this body was designed and originally intended to be sold through the Edsel dealers. After FoMoCo disbanded Edsel, the Comet was sold it's first year without and brand emblem. It was simply a Comet. This car was the first year Mercury branded them as Ford was already selling the similar Falcon. In my opinion, this is a much cooler car with the tail fins! The imperfections. I'm listing what I can see. Depending on what you plan to do with this car, these may not bother you... Headliner and carpets were removed. Trunk lock missing (matching lock sets are readilly available online). Wiper blade (not arm) missing. Some trim was removed, but placed in the trunk. Brake master cylinder bad. Interior is usable and original, but has some split seams and imperfections with age. This car was last registered in 1987. Texas has dropped the title information from their database so a new bonded title will need to be issued. Arkansas, Georgia, and some other states will not require paperwork as it is over 25 years old. California will require a VIN verification by a peace officer (free). I will assist in filling out whatever paperwork your state requires. I'm not a dealer, but I do trade a lot of classics. I've found it much easier if the buyer brings their states paperwork with them as simply "handing the title over" is rarely sufficient anymore. Car will need to be paid for within 3 days of auction close. I can store for upto 45 days. It is located in Liberty Hill, TX, which is about 30 minutes north of Austin, TX. Only 15 minutes off I35.
