Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1931 Oldsmobile Sport Coupe Very Rare Specifications: 65hp, 197 cu. in. six-cylinder engine, three-speed selective sliding gear transmission, semi-elliptic leaf springs and semi floating rear axle, duo-servo brakes. Wheelbase: 112.5"Although Ransom E. For 1931, Oldsmobile sold only one line of cars, known as the F-31 series, which were powered by a 65 horsepower, inline six-cylinder engine. Technically advanced for its time, the Oldsmobile inline six had new intake valve porting, a Stromberg downdraft carburetor, manifold heat control, drop forged connecting rods, cast grey iron pistons, a block cast from close grained chrome nickel alloy iron and a Harrison cellular radiator, all of which improved performance. The F-31 chassis remained basically the same as that of the previous year, with semi-elliptic springs featuring anti-rattle, self adjusting shackles, worm and three-tooth steering as well as duo-servo brakes. The Deluxe model package included a choice of wooden or wire wheels, twin side-mounts, front and rear bumpers and a trunk platform. In its full range of body styles, Oldsmobile offered two five-window coupes, the business coupe, or the more desirable Sport Coupe. Considered to be markedly more stylish than its brethren, the Sport Coupe came with a rumble seat, a golf bag door, as well as a chromium-plated grille and shell. My research tells me that this car had a 3 year restoration completed in 2007. It is painted in tan and brown, with cream-colored wire wheels and whitewall tires. The Sport Coupe is fitted with wind wings, dual side mounted spare tires, and a trunk rack in addition to the standard rumble seat and golf bag door. Inside, the matching period velour-like interior remains in very good condition, showing minimal wear. Mechanically, this rare, southern U.S. Sport Coupe starts and runs very well. In 1931 Oldsmobile ranked eight in the industry with sales totaling 47,279. Of that, only 858 Sport Coupes were sold with wire wheels and only 687 with wooden wheels. Rare in the year it was built and significantly more so today, this fully restored Sport Coupe is worth serious consideration. Battery was replaced within the last 6 month. The only wood that shows signs of water damage is the frame on the inside of the golf bag door where water got in at the top of the door, and should be an easy fix if desired. It only shows when the door is opened. All glass is excellent. Door windows role up and down nicely. Windshield roles up and down approximately 1 to 2 inches for air conditioning. Rear window is in the up position but the role up handle spins freely and does not move the window.Winning bidder must make a $500 non refundable deposit through PayPal within 24 hours of end of bidding.
