Vehicle Detail
1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Inline 6 cyl 150hp Standard Two Tops: Hard and Soft (also included is a hard top remover/storage) Excellent Condition *Appraisal performed May 2012 states NADH values this specific vehicle in its current condition at $30,500 USD plus 10% for removable top.* Mercedes-Benz introduced the 230SL at the Geneva Auto Show in March of 1963. This vehicle had the difficult task of succeeding the 190SL. The monocoque design and its engine were derivatives of the Mercedes-Benz cars introduced in 1959. The engine used between 1963 and 1967 with a 2308cc six-cylinder unit that was virtually the same unit utilized in the 220SE. The 230SL had sporty attributes with the heightened comfort of a grand tourer, and was capable of racing from zero-to-sixty in 9.9 seconds. This is a left-hand drive vehicle with a four-injected six-cylinder engine and manual transmission. There are disc brakes in the front and hydraulic drums in the rear. The car rides on a 94.5-inch platform with an independent suspension in the front and rear. The car is very comfortable and drives like new. The ivory paint is in great shape with only a few blemishes and the vehicle includes both tops, hard and soft. We have the original build sheet and protect-o-plate for the vehicle. The vehicle was purchased from the original owner in California and is currently housed in Houston, Texas. We have maintenance records from 1971 forward, including photographs from the original family riding their beauty through the Redwood Forest! According to these maticulous receipts and documents, the seats were reupholstered in Westlake Village, California on 03-19-2004 in "Black German" leather. The black carpet is also new and had insulation installed underneath to help reduce heat. Both seats and carpet are in great condition. Also included is a hard top remover/storage utilizing a pulley system. The winch operates by a handle or electric drill (drill not included), which allows removal and storage of the hard top with only one person need. This is a $700.00 value! Per original specs, there is no air conditioner in this vehicle. Instead there is a forced-air intake system that flows from the hood to the interior vents. The heater, clock, map light and interior lights work, but the original radio does not. If you have any questions call James at 832.726.6472 or email through eBay.
