Vehicle Detail
VERY SHARP LOOKING 1969 PONTIAC FIREBIRD 400 CONVERTIBLE 4 SPEED CALIFORNIA CAR THAT RUNS/DRIVES EXCELLENT AND IS WAITING FOR A NEW OWNER TO HOP IN AND TAKE IT DOWN THE HIGHWAY. Many more additional pictures available at this link below: http://www.webeautos.com/detail-1969-pontiac-firebird-400-used-8788638.html Factory Options: 1) Power steering 2) Manual drum brakes 3) Manual top 4) Dual exhaust 5) 4 speed transmission 6) 400ci/350hp motor originally (currently not matching) 7) Rear spoiler 8) 15" Pontiac Rally II wheels I got the car in California when I was there last year. Since I got it I basically just did minor tlc and replaced a couple of worn mechanical parts and have been driving it throughout the spring and summer at least once a week. NEW convertible top within the last couple of years. NEW tires. NEW exhaust. NEW alternator. NEW fuel pump. It's a very fun car and I really hate to see it go. Body is very nice and straight with very few waves in it. Doors open and close nicely pretty good with minor sag as is common on these. Gaps are all good from what I could see and panel fit is pretty good overall for 60s GM car. It fires right up and sounds great. Transmission shifts seamlessly without any issues but the pattern is reversed, that's all. Now as for driving the car, i've taken it out once every other week or so on both short and long trips. A couple of times I took it to Carlisle, PA for the big car show (not to sell it). Transmission shifts great, brakes work nicely, steers very well and overall I would feel confident taking the car anywhere. Under the hood lies a non matching period correct Pontiac block that has been rebuilt in the late 1990s according to previous owner. Mostly stock with the exception of an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and Edelbrock 600cfm 4bbl. carburetor. I have added a chrome appearance kit to spruce it up a bit. Starts right up, idles great and has been extremely reliable while in my possession. Interior is very presentable for a driver as you can see. Carpet a bit faded but still good. Front seat covers have been redone recently (missing headrests, rear seat has one seam split). Good dash, steering wheel and door panels with minor wear. Underside is in fairly good shape and this is after all a California car. Frame is excellent from the looks of it. Trunk is very solid and both salt shakers are there, and both rear shock towers are in very solid shape. Floorboards are all solid except for both front sections which have small holes and should be replaced properly. Normal surface rust underneath as you would expect, although vehicle has been stored indoors most of its life. THIS 1969 FIREBIRD 400 CONVERTIBLE IS NOT PERFECT, SO PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES, ASK QUESTIONS OR COME SEE IT IN PERSON. Paint is in FAIRLY GOOD shape and cleans up nicely for a driver but it is NOT show quality or anywhere near it. At one time this was a two-tone car that has been painted white and you can see the body line where the two different paints were applied if you look closely. Not working: horn, radio, speedometer (needs new cable), perhaps a bulb or two may need replacing and maybe a gauge or two stopped working since we've had it. Missing: ashtray, radio knobs, door weatherstripping. Chrome bumper should be replaced. Small bubbles under passenger door corner. Underside has some rust and some holes in front floorboards and rocker panel section. Fan shroud should be replaced. So overall she is nowhere near perfect and will need some form of TLC depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car. If you just want a NICE DRIVER that you can drive around at your leisure needing tlc, this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some serious investment to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO. AT THE VERY LEAST TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THE ADDITIONAL PICTURES ON THE LINK ABOVE.
