Vehicle Detail
It was 1964 and Biil Stroppe was hired to build Mercurys that would compete in the NASCAR racing circuit. He hired a fellow named Parnelli jones to drive a 1964 Mercury Marauder that he prepared. They captured eight major stock car wins that year as well as the pikes Peak hillclimb making the Marauder a true force on the circuit for 1964. What I have for sale is a 1964 Mercury Montclair Marauder. I purchased it from the widow of an elderly farmer who held on to the car even after her husband passed because it was "like part of the family." The car is 100 percent complete and original except for a repaint in it's original one year only 25th aniversary color " Bittersweet" a job which may have been done by the old boy himself. The only use the car saw over the last couple of decades was in two small town parades each year that the old couple proudly took part in. I drove the car home and rebuilt the carb and completely replaced all the brakes, hardware ,drums cylinders and master. The car runs and drives great. The 390 two barrel likes 70 on the highway and it rides smoother than most new cars. The interior is all original and in excellent shape. Probably due to the fact the car has only 63 thousand original miles on it! The only rust I can find on the Entire car are two quarter size holes on the very top of the rear inside fender wells. Trunk pan, doors, fenders and frame are all solid and straight. The chrome and stainless are all good with the exception of the lower right rear fender chrome that looks like somebody got too close to the edge of the garage door and creased it slightly. Hard to spot unless your looking for it. I've had the car for a handfull of years now and enjoy going to the weekly cruise's as it is always the only one of it's kind there. I put a set of 68 Mustang rally wheels on it that really look cool, but I intend to keep those unless we work out a deal. The car will come with the original stock hub caps and steel wheels. This is an as is sale, no guarantee or return, so inspect the pictures or feel free to come see the car or have it inspected. There is a $500 dollar deposit at auction end by Paypal and I would like to have the remainder within 7days of close. It will continue to be stored indoors but I would like it picked up within two weeks unless we work something out. You can call Jim with questions at 563-590-4004 or email me through ebay. There are alot of cool sites concerning this car, check out autoswalk.com and type in 1964 Mercury Marauder. Or look up the merc marauder car club. Whoever gets this car won't be disappointed. You could set it up to your liking or just drive it as is to the next cruise or show in your area. Thanks and good luck!
