Vehicle Detail

No Reserve auction. 1953 Oldsmobile 98 with no rust, tinted glass, Autronic-Eye headlamps, signal seek radio with rear speaker. Great Rocket 88 4 bc engine and more! I’ve had this car for several years stored away, but family responsibilities have displaced my enthusiasm to complete this restoration. The car has been preserved, protected and garaged nearly all its existence. We bought this car from a friend who owned it since 1976, worked on the repainting by removing the chrome, sanding and priming, but other activities forced the sale of the Olds “as is” – that is, with most trim off, the power brake system disassembled and not driveable. The car fires right up and sounds good, but the fuel pump is bad, so it won’t keep running. We have a included a new A/C fuel pump. Look over our pictures. If you don’t see your desired shot, let us know and we will get what you want to see. Engine: Rocket 88 4bc; power steering; great appearance. Desireable 4 bc olds air cleaner (nice). Excellent radiator. Transmission – original Hydra-matic. Condition – OK when last driven many years ago Body: the only rust repair I notice is the right rear lower fender cap. That has been repaired. There is no rust in the doors, fenders or trunk. There is a dent on the left hand rear door up high. There are a few dents in the roof on the left hand side. No other dents or rust. Tires: nothing to brag about. Aged, but hold air long-term. The spare is dated 1958 and is original paint. Interior: all original. Period 60's seat covers. The factory upholstery looks good, undamaged under the covers. The rear cushion has a severe deterioration as pictured low on the left. The headliner is undamaged as are the visors. Notice the fine Oldsmobile accessory mirror. The door panels are very nice and straight. Glass: tinted! Crack and chip free. All move up & down freely. The rear package tray is original and very good for 60 years old. Dash: very good. Original. Nice chrome. Great looking gauges. Autronic eye equipped. Great glove box. Very good steering wheel and horn ring/button. Trunk: all there, but the bottom fabric is missing. No rust in the tire well. Sorry, jack is missing. Trunk lamp. Paint: top is original blue. Body is mostly in primer. Upper body at windows mostly original gray color. Miscellaneous chrome trim and grille: bumpers were stored outside for too many years and are seriously rusted. The grille chrome condition varies from good to poor. This was the year for “Korean chrome” recall? Study the pictures. The front hood emblem is missing (one with Olds globe). The hood ornament is extra nice. On Aug-18-12 at 18:56:31 PDT, seller added the following information: We do have the rocker moldings and new clips to install them. They remain very good to excellent. On Aug-21-12 at 07:27:10 PDT, seller added the following information: just a reminder: car comes with a good and clear title.
