Vehicle Detail
Okay, here's your chance to own a rare and getting rarer classic Scout a ton of options! I bought this baby 4 years ago because it ran and other Scouts I owned - not so much. The seller even imbedded video clips in his listing showing it start right up and showing the blade raising and lowering. I had to have it! And then . . . well life just has its own way of moving forward and I lacked the time, money [and skill set] to get the restoration process underway. So alot of what I have to report on its condition came from the prior owner. Options: It comes with a blade that the prior owner said was likely an International blade, but could not confirm it. I does look like an International blade to me. The hydraulics for the blade are complete and it did raise and lower until it didn't. I assume, and my mechanic says, it probably just needs to have the hydraulic cylinder refilled. The winch needs to have a new hook attached to the cable, and it was that way when I bought it, so I've never used it. Both the blade and winch controls are located inside the cab, on or under the dash. Mechanical: The dual side tanks have been removed and not reinstalled, but they are there. It is currently fueled by a 5-gallon boat tank behind the front seats. You could always put a more tradtional tank between the frame rails but that's up to you. My seller said that the "Scout has a Dana 27 front axle (with drive plates rather than lock-out hubs), a Dana 20 transfer case with twin sticks, and a Dana rear with the POWR-LOK differential." He also represented to me that new brake lines and exhaust had been installed and that all the lights worked, including the turn signals. i have installed a new battery and my mechanic says it starts right up. The prior owner also represented that the radiator had been replaced, that it did not overheat and that the clutch was strong. I had the lugs replaced on the rear wheels because they stripped. Exterior: Easily restorable as it does not have the serious rust that plagues these old classics. I like to tell folks who don't know what they are that they were the original SUV. Of course the top is removable and it comes with all 5 matching hubcaps. The glass is complete and in good condition and windows crank up and down. There's some rust evident in the pictures but not nearly as much as I've seen on other Scouts and more good news is that not a lot of shoddy body work has been attempted. You got yourself a clean slate here. Of course the top comes off, and I may have a spare hood laying around to throw in if you want to take the bug eye lights off the hood and put a more modern light set on the blade itself. Interior: Pictures will reveal that this Scout comes with the rear fender mounted side seats, modified to accomodate the usual bench seat. Floor panels have been patched over the years. Documentation: Comes with the original line setting ticket, owner's manual and related documentation from when it was new. Location(s): The Scout is currently sitting at my mechanic's shop and will need to have the rear tires aired up before loading on a trailer. His shop is located at the intersection of State Road 37 and Strawtown Avenue, or 234th Street, in Cicero, Indiana, just up the road from Noblesville, which is north of Indianapolis, Indiana. The blade is sitting in my drive about 1 and 1/2 miles away where it came to rest when the hydraulics stopped working. I may have the blade moved to the same location as the Scout before the auction ends to make it easier to get both on a trailer. Do not think you can drive this one home due to the condition of the tires. MILEAGE IS UNKNOWN You can email questions to: jlstewart1312@att.net or just post your questions on the sale site so that others can see them and my responses. Good Luck with the Auction. Bidders with little history should contact me before the auction closes to make sure I'm not wasting my time with those who bid but can't pay I AM RELISTING WITH A LOWERED INITIAL PRICE AND RESERVE I HAVE THIS SCOUT FOR SALE LOCALLY AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION IF A LOCAL SALE IS MADE BEFORE THE AUCTION CLOSES.
