Vehicle Detail
You're bidding on my 1935 Ford Pickup truck. It is a clean, fast, traditional, fun, and reliable HOTROD. It is NOT some thrown-together rickety "rat-rod". It has been on the road for well over 8 years and was built to be driven. She flies down the freeway with one finger on the wheel. It is registered and insured in the state of California and has a clean title. Now for the details: Body: The cab was chopped by world renown hot rod builder Rudy Rodriguez, who built the other famous 35' truck with "La Coahuila" painted on the side. Needless to say, the chop was done very well. You can't even see the seam where the doors have been cut and welded. This bed, cab, and grill on this truck are all in very good shape. There is no rust, and what little bodywork that needed to be done before paint, was done right, and then painted. Pictures do not do this car justice - it is painted a copper suede and really shines in the sun. The body is so nice that if you don't like the paint, it's ready to roll right into the paint booth and shoot it whatever color you desire! The inside of the bed has been rhino-lined so that it can actually be used as a truck. The front windshield frame and the rear garnish molding have both been chromed. The doors have glass in them, and they roll up and down nicely. The windshield also goes in and out and the cowl vent works. Running Gear: What's really cool about this truck is the motor. It's got a 1951 Oldsmobile Rocket 303 cubic inch V8. Everybody runs a small block, but if this truck was built in the 50's, this is the motor anyone would have chosen. And this thing hauls ass! The motor runs as good as it did 50 years ago. Even when it's cold or hasn't been started in a few days, you don't even need to pump the gas or anything - you just flick the key and she fires right up and purrs. It doesn't overheat or do anything weird. The headers have baffles in them so that it still sounds good, but won't leave your ears ringing after a drive. The transmission is a 4-speed hydramatic. The rearend is a Ford 8-inch. Chassis: It has the original frame with split wishbones up front and juice brakes. It has cross-steering so that you don't get any bump-steer when driving on those crappy roads (like all of our freeways here in California). The tires are brand-spanking new with less than 50 miles on them - I just paid $1200 dollars for the set from Coker Tire. Interior: I just prettied the inside up with brand new white tuck-and-roll. The seat is a brand new $600 Glide seat with new foam and, like I said, new tuck-and-roll. The gauges include a speedometer, gas gauge, oil pressure, volts charging, and engine temperature. ALL OF THE GAUGES WORK. Speaking of fuel gauge, it has a brand new electric fuel pump. That's about all I can think of for now. If I left something out, or if you have any questions, please feel free to email or message me and I'll respond as quickly as possible. For those of you bidders who live near me, please feel free to come see the car and go for a spin around the block! Car is sold in "as-is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. Ask all questions before bidding. Thanks, and good luck!!! To see a video of the truck driving, go to Youtube and search "1935 Ford hotrod truck san clemente". On Aug-08-12 at 13:53:54 PDT, seller added the following information: ************************************Update************************************ I spoke with Rudy Rodriguez this morning and he told me a little more about this pickup. The truck was owned by a gentleman who owned some kind of auto-shop (Rudy said the name but I forgot it) in Los Angeles, and in 1961, his wife wrecked their 51' Oldsmobile so he pulled the steering column and the engine, trans, and rear-end out to build this truck. The rear-end has since been changed to the 8-inch it has in it now though. Rudy owned the truck about 15 years ago, at the same time he owned the "La Coahuila" truck and he confirmed that he DID do the chop on it - and like I said, it was done very well. He also said that it was a full-fendered truck back when he owned it and he brought the fenders down to bare metal and they were nearly perfect. I don't have the fenders, but he said the rest of the body is nice and has no patch panels. You can just look a the bed and see that it has no dents - which for a 78 year old truck - means it was well taken care of.On Aug-08-12 at 16:16:43 PDT, seller added the following information: **************************************************** One last update*********************************************************** I spoke with Rudy one more time and the name of the shop this truck was built for was Ace Radiator located in La Habra, Los Angeles. It was built in 1961 and was featured in a hotrod magazine in 1965.
