NO RESERVE! Bid and win! This 1972 Karmann Ghia convertible is a great driver in very good condition. It is a true eye catcher and people always take a second look at it when passing by or ask questions when they see it parked. It runs excellent and has newer top with original glass window. Engine, brakes, battery, convertible boot, carpet, dash and tires are all newer. You would never know the interior was a 40 year old car. Have owner's manual and receipts. CA car and clean title in hand in my name -- no games here. Interior is in very good condition with no major flaws. There are some minor tears in the original seats but nothing major. All original badging on the car inside and out. These convertibles are getting very hard to find and when you can find them they are often in very poor condition -- this is the exception! Numbers all match -- see photos. I bought the car locally about a month ago. My wife has always loved Karmann Ghias and wanted one for a long time. We were looking for just a fun weekend car to cruise around. I looked around for about 2-3 months to find a Ghia and everything was either a disaster that looked like it had been parked outside for weeks with the top down or was completely restored for $15-20K+. My wife loves the car as do I but we have 3 kids under the age of 10 and we didn't really think it through properly. After a couple weekends of driving around, we both came to the conclusion that we aren't all that comfortable with our 3 little kids in the back bench seat even for just around the town cruising at 25-30mph. So unfortunately we have reluctantly decided that it doesn't make any sense to have a fun weekend car that we can't put the kids in. So we are now in the market for something a little more "family friendly" on the weekends. In short we should have thought it through more fully. I was the first and only person to see the car when I bought it (responded the night it was posted and bought it by 10am the next day as I had seen enough cars to know it was in the best condition of any similar Ghia I had seen). It is now registered properly through 4/2013. The car does have a few dents/dings/nicks as you can see in the pictures. The primary body flaws are a small dent on the low drive side door area that you can see and there is a patched spot on the rear engine compartment lid and some other minor cracking in the paint at the front nose. This is not a show car but a very, very nice driver that from 8-10' looks incredible. The original paint color was orange as you can see in the engine compartment. A previous owner painted it yellow. If I were going to keep the car, the things I would do would be to change the interior door panels (I believe you can buy a pair online for less than $100) and also the passenger seat belt sensor wire needs to be adjusted as the safety belt light on dash will occasionally buzz -- the wire sensor is just loose -- very minor fix. The good news is that 40 years later the sensor light on the dash still works! There is an original stereo in dash and Sony speakers in the doors but they are not hooked up. Odometer says 98,XXX but I'm not sure what the actual mileage on the vehicle is. The car is sold As-Is and where-is. You are welcome to inspect the car in its current location in Menlo Park, CA. You can also ask me any questions and I will answer to the best of my ability -- I'm not a mechanic. I will not ship the car overseas. Buyer is responsible for either picking up the car or having it shipped at their expense. The car is also being advertised for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells locally. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of sale and remainder paid in full within 3 days of auction ending. Car will not be released until paid in full.
