Here is a 1996 GMC Suburban selling at no reserve. The truck is a 3/4 ton, 4WD and has the big 7.4L engine with the heavy duty 4L80E transmission and towing package. It's been a great truck that has served me well. It has 257K miles and it's time to move on. The truck has issues as you would expect from a high mileage vehicle and I'll try and list them out there, though I may miss something. Do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have. The truck runs well with the exception of a whine I'm getting from the drive line somewhere. I had it in to a mechanic who swore it was the four wheel drive transfer case. I replaced this with a good used one and the whine did not go away. I was told by another mechanic that it might be the four wheel drive drive shaft which I tried to just remove to see if that was it. Unfortunately, the drive shaft needs to collapse to be removed without once again removing the transfer case and it will not collapse. At this point I'm not messing with it further. I've been driving it with this whine while I've been troubleshooting without any problems, but it's still there and I can't say for certain what it is. The rear end was replaced about a year and a half ago. The engine uses a little oil, but not too bad. I've been putting in a quart maybe once a month. Every now and again I have to put in a little coolant (I flushed out the Dex-Cool and switched to regular green coolant quite a while ago). There's some electrical issue with the 4WD shifter and I haven't had in in 4WD in a while (I used to be able to do it by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, then it would work for a while, but that didn't work last time). The check engine light in on. The Michelin LTX M/S LT245/75 R16 tires are less than a year old and in great shape. There's a little rust starting here and there, but the spots are small so far. The frame is NOT rusty and is in great shape. The interior has been abused a bit. The radio works great, but the CD player hasn't worked in a while. Both front door hinge pins are worn, so the doors sag a bit and have to be slammed to close tightly. All the windows work. The cruise control works unless the headlights are on (I never figured that one out). The heater works, but the A/C does not. One of the rear 'barn doors' sometimes sticks, but I just give it a whack with my palm and that usually clears it up. The hood can be a challenge to open. The driver's inside door handle is broken. You have to roll down the window to open the driver's door. The exhaust system is good. I replaced the crossover pipe a bit ago. I just drove the truck out to eastern Pennsylvania and back just before the whine started. Once that issue is resolved, I would have no hesitation to drive this truck long distances. It's a good solid truck that still has a lot to give. The truck is located in Petersburg, MI and is available for inspection there.
