Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction is a 1965 Datsun 1500. This is a very rare vehicle, only 1123 total Datsun 1500 vehicles were made by Datsun in 1964 and1965. This is a precursor to the Datsun 1600 and 2000 roadsters as well as the Z series vehicles. This vehicle has almost all of its parts and that makes this vehicle very desirable It is a matching numbers vehicle which means it has its original motor, please see pictures of ID plate and Block stamp. The motor has the correct oil cap which is rare, correct generator, this is a positive ground vehicle. It is a dual carb model with original Datsun 1500 dual carbs. It has an original radiator. The washer bottle is complete and has no cracks. It has all of the side trim which is correct for a Datsun 1500, the body is very good, it does have some slight damage at the front apron. The rear panel is intact with no signs of damage or repair. It has the correct fenders and front grill, has the correct Fairlady emblems on the front fenders. The Seats are in great shape with no tears and has a good carpet kit. The engine is in running condition but has been sitting for many years, The engine has been cranked regularly, it is a push rod G series motor. This car has been in my garage for the last 5 years and appears to have been stored indoors by the previous owner. The rare ash tray found only on this model is complete and the radio console has the original Toshiba radio. This car was pictured without its lighter, a new reproduction cigarette lighter is included in auction but not pictured. The dash pad needs replacement and is available for purchase separately. The dash does have a glove box door, it is not pictured. The sheet metal is in good condition, areas of rust are only surface rust. The hinge areas on the door are solid, the door check straps are present and not broken and are not in need of any repair. The rear lights have some slight damage to the rear tail light trim rings on the driver side but I will include in this auction some good used rear trim rings. This car has a low reserve, it will need to be towed as the brakes will need to be bled or repaired as it has been sitting for a while. The Brake master cylinder appears to be fairly new. Buyer to arrange and pay for all shipping costs. I will assist in arranging international shipping if needed, please feel free to ask questions. A 500 dollar deposit is due at auctions end and can be paid via paypal or via bank transfer, remaining balance to be paid within 5 days of auction end. High resolution pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/74858111@N07/7565963660/in/set-72157630567613402/ The first true Datsun sports car was the 1963 SP310 "Fairlady 1500" model (right hand drive), and the SPL310 (left hand drive). In America it was known as the Datsun 1500. This SPL310 was based on a modified Bluebird 310 sedan platform instead of the truck platform of earlier models. It featured an 85 hp 1.5 L (1,497 cc) G15 engine. This car is an 85 HP dual carb 2 seater model which was built in 1964 and 1965. A four-speed manual transmission was the only shifting option and has a non-syncro'd first gear. This model is most commonly referred to as the 2 seater 1500. As this suggests, this model has 2 seats, the novel 3rd seat was dropped for 1965. People often mistakenly think when they see this car, that it is a car that the owner has made it up from the parts of a 1500 and a 1600, but it is actually a changeover model that has some of the features of the soon to be released 1600 Sports. It continues to use the mechanicals of the previous 1500 model but it has a different interior, with a silver/grey painted dashboard with 2 large round guages and 5 smaller ones. The air intake on the bonnet is a little taller and the bonnet has individual "D-A-T-S-U-N" badge. Badges on the side say "Fairlady" and the back badge says "Datsun 1500". 1123 of this model was made. Production run for Datsun 1500 VIN Numbers 10001- 11124 Only 1123 Datsun 1500 1964 and 1965 Datsun 1500 2 seater models were made production started July 1964 and ended January 1965. This car is number 558 off the assembly line This cars VIN number is SPL310-10559
