Vehicle Detail
I've owned this car since 1995 and have driven it about 20,000 miles. The odometer reads 48,7XX miles and I have no idea how many miles are on the car. The car is in running condition and is driveable/being driven now. I run premium (non-reformulated) fuel, Mobil 1 Synthetic oil, and don't see any oil consumption or smoke out the tailpipe. The motor could use new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor and points (typical tune-up stuff). Has Ansa exhaust that seems good, but could use gasket between front pipe and rear system (not loud, just leaking there). The transmission works good, the clutch is fine, but is running out of adjustment (does not slip). The front brake calipers need to be repaired or replaced. The shocks could be replaced and the tires aren't great. The body has bits of rust and scratches here and there, and is far from perfect. This is not at all a show car, but an inexpensive car that could use some repairs and then be a lot of fun to drive. There are many spare parts, including the original 1600 motor (number matches frame), shown in pictures. The motor in the car is a 1971 2002 motor (#2586488). With all that said, the reserve is set reasonable, if I don't sell it, I'll do repairs and drive another 17 years. On Jun-24-12 at 10:24:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Update on body condition: This car has not been in any accidents in the last 17 years. It doesn't seem like it ever was in any accidents (not sure). The condition of the paint and body is unchanged since I've owned the car. This car looks better than it actually is! You've heard of California cars - This is a Wisconsin car. It has been repainted prior to me acquiring it. Someone did an OK job, as they went under the hood, in the door jams, etc. The paint doesn't have runs, but plenty of odds and ends scratches. Prior to painting, someone did some body work - under doors, quarter panels, under front part of hood. The under carraige seems original with a nice consistent layer of surface rust. There is a hole in the floor by the gas pedal (approx. 2" x 4") - This is pretty typical for these cars. This hole is generally covered by a piece of sheet metal under the carpeting. The spare tire cavity has surface rust and the tire holder post was removed. I have the post, and it didn't actually rust out, someone cut it out and replaced it with a piece of sheet metal..?? This car has a uni-body frame with surface rust. The floors, other than the hole by the gas pedal, are solid. All four shock towers are solid. Now with all that said - I, to this day (actually yesterday when I was filling the car with fuel), get comments like "Nice car", "Love your car", "What year is it?", etc. etc. etc.. To those who've already bid: Please feel free to retract your bid based on this extended description. Certainly no hard feelings or negative feedback to your retracted bid. I want people to know what they're bidding on and be happy with the results.
