2006 Volvo XC70 Ocean Race With Every Option!
This is very nice 2006 Volvo XC70 Cross Country AWD wagon. This car is the extremely rare Ocean Race Edition. Only 500 of these cars were sold. This car is number 397. To make it even more rare, this car has a completely loaded option list including factory Navigation, DVD rear entertainment, Four C chassis control, Xenon headlights, cold weather package, premium sound system, and the folding third seat in the back which makes this vehicle capable of seating 7. This vehicle is in excellent condition and is ready to drive anywhere.
In 1998 Volvo became the sponsor for the Whitbread round the world sailing race. The race became known as the Volvo Ocean Race. The race takes place every 3 years. The 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race is underway right now. You can go to www.volvooceanrace.org for more details.
For 2006 Volvo produced two special vehicles to commemorate the 2005-2006 race. The Volvo XC70 and XC90 were chosen and a special limited edition package was designed for these cars called the Ocean Race Edition. There were 500 XC70's and 800 XC90's sold. These limited edition cars were sold only while the race was in progress from September of 2005 until June of 2006. This auction is for car number 397. The Ocean Race package comes with a special Ocean Blue color that is only available on Ocean Race cars. It also has special 17 inch Oreander polished aluminum wheels that are only available on the Ocean Race cars. The body side moldings are in aluminum trim along with the interior accents. The Ocean Race cars come with a special Ocean Race logo on the doors and door sills as well as special blue stitching on the unique taupe leather seats with cloth inserts and blue trim on the floor mats. The VOR cars also come with front and rear skid plates in aluminum trim.
Volvo commissioned a book to be written about the Volvo Ocean Race of 2005-2006. This book was written by Rob Mundle and is titled "Life At The Extreme". It is full of high quality photos and riveting narrative. This book is a tabletop book has the detailed accounts of the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race and the teams that participated in the race. When Volvo sold the 2002 Ocean Race Edition cars they included a book about the race with each car. In 2006 a book didn't come with the car, but I thought it was a neat idea so I bought one of the 2006 books to go with the car.(see picture)
This Ocean Race XC70 is loaded with every available option and had a sticker price of over $52,000. The options include heated seats, memory seat, power passenger seat, two built in child booster seats, folding third seat, headlight washers, xenon headlights, rain sensing windshield wipers, factory navigation system, factory DVD rear seat headrest entertainment system, Four C dynamic chassis control, factory towing package, premium sound system, premium air filtration system, Homelink, autodimming mirrors, rear back up sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, ipod adapter, power sunroof, AM/FM/Cassette/CD stereo, dual zone automatic climate control including rear air vents, front and rear side airbags, heated mirrors, trip computer, steering wheel controls, and much more. The XC70 is powered by the efficient and powerful 2.5 liter turbocharged 5 cylinder engine. Power goes to the wheels through a smooth as silk 5 speed geartronic automatic transmission with manual shift mode. All wheel drive, traction control, winter mode make this the vehicle to have for winter driving. It would be hard to find a nicer 2006 XC70 anywhere much less an Ocean Race Edition.
History
This two owner vehicle was manufactured in February of 2006 and first registered in May of 2006. In October of 2006 it was registered to the second owner with about 11,000 miles on it. It has been registered in the state of Maryland ever since. It was recently traded on a new car. This vehicle appears to have been very well maintained. It has a clear title history with no problems whatsoever. There are no accident indicators on the Autocheck report and no paintwork on the car.
Mechanical
This Volvo is in great shape. It runs and drives just like it should- smooth and quiet. Everything works properly. The engine runs smooth and strong. The transmission shifts smooth and crisp with no slipping or hesitation. It has four very nearly new Goodyear tires. The brakes are nearly new on the front and about 70% on the rear and stop this car firmly without pulling or vibration. The air conditioning blows ice cold. The underside of the car is clean and dry with no leaks or rust. This Volvo has been serviced with new synthetic oil and filter, and transmission fluid change, cabin air filter, and engine air filter. It has also been Virginia State inspected by an independent mechanic. My wife and I have driven this car almost 1,000 miles and it performs flawlessly.
Exterior
The exterior of this car is smooth and mirror shiny as you can see from the pictures. It is finished in Ocean Blue Pearl Metallic Paint which was only available on the Ocean Race edition vehicles. There are a few very minor cosmetic imperfections such as a tiny door of very light scratches in the drivers side rear door and quarter panel(see pictures). Other than these very minor things the car looks like a new one. I would rate the exterior a 9 out 10
Interior
The interior of this Volvo Cross Country is very nice as well. The seats and carpet are clean and free of stains. There is no smoke or other offensive odors. Everything works like it should. This car comes with two keyless entry remote/key combinations. Also included are the full set of owners manuals for the car, the ipod adapter and bluetooth, the remote and headphones for the DVD, and the remote for the navigation system along with the NAV disc. This car has the full set of factory floor mats along with the spare tire and tools. The cargo area is clean. I would rate the interior a 9 out of 10.
