I acquired this car through a trade for a much more expensive car one year ago. I have known about the car for 10 years and have tried to buy it over that time when I heard that he wanted a 1963 split window corvette so I offered him a deal with his 240Z and I got it. I am a big guy and just do not fit well in it so I rarely drive it for short periods. On to this rare Z. This has to be the most documented car of it's kind, or any kind, for that matter! A 1972 Datsun 240z manual shift with it's original wheel covers, original color, interior and radio and the power antenna still works! It was purchased by the current owner from Bay Shore Datsun, 51 Park Ave. in Bay Shore, NY on February 9, 1972. William must have went to great lengths to keep a Long Island, New York car from rusting...ESPECIALLY A DATSUN! So many of the other Z's claim 30k orig. miles, 40k orig. miles etc., etc. Condition and documentation mean everything! This car was taken care of better then any 'claimed' to be super low mile cars! Anyway, on to the car. I have more pics for the serious buyer as I am only allowed 24 here on ebay. It has received one repaint 8 years ago (the rear hatch is actually orig. paint as William said that it did not need paint there and he liked the originality of it) The underside is absolutely awesome and original and has NEVER had a repair or rattle can taken to it. Under the battery tray is perfect (PICTURED) as well and I can't say enough about the original trunk (hatch area) with original paint! All this is pictured. The documentation includes original window sticker, original dealer invoice, original warranty card, original emissions warranty form, orig. warranty and service booklet, orig. consumer information guide, orig. Datsun 240Z sports owners manual, the original Genuine Datsun Hitachi car radio instructions booklet model KM-1520ZC. I have the current transferable registration (title) still in Williams' name. How about this...I have a notarized and signed affidavit from William in 2001 stating that he is the original owner and stating that this car and vin # is indeed his car, also stating that the engine numbers are indeed the original engine with the numbers listed as well (the original dealer invoice also lists the numbers of the engine on it). It says that he purchased the car on 2/9/1972 (it was invoiced on 1/7/72) and it states that he has surrendered the license plates in 1984 and placed the car in storage. I guess only a guy like this amazing gentleman would keep all the original paperwork for the car all the years and keep it in such nice condition! He said that he did the notarized affidavit just in case something happened to him and somehow the paperwork was lost. Oh, and did I mention that I have the original keys! Yes, I said key(s)! I have both original keys! After the car was in climate controlled storage it was gone over and inspected closely so that everything worked as it should work. A car like this deserves only the best treatment! Brakes were checked, a tune up was performed and just like that, the car was ready to drive anywhere! It drives like everything else about this car...phenomenal! The paint was done nicely to look original! It is very nice original looking paint with very little bodywork done at all ever in it's life. Only the lip of a wheel well and probably a lower spot or two have very, very little filler as thin coats. The car just never rusted because it was in Williams' possesion from day 1 as he took such awesome care of everything. The trunk is fantastic and original as well with original paint on all of it, the corner is pictured. The dash was never cracked or repaired, the underside is amazing and the car just has to be one of the rarest in existence! The interior is 100% original and incredible! I also have a couple of miscellaneous original NOS and used parts from the car originally like hoses and other small things which I took a general picture of what is there. It is nothing to speak of but it is history. Look, I simply love the car and if it does not sell then I will be glad to add it to my collection. I am a pretty big guy and really can't drive it much but it is soooo cool but... I just want to offer such a great rare piece to the serious Datsun collector as I am really a GM guy and I do not have any more room for another car.
