Up for sale is my 1998 volvo s70T5. I have owned this car since 2006. the car runs and can drive but it has engine knock that it recently developed. I suspect the knock was caused by a bad oil pump but can't say for sure.I do know that it had valve tapping (symptoms of low oil pressure) even with the oil level full, and shortly afterwards the engine began to knock. Exterior condition is all right. There is one dent above the passenger side corner marker lens, it's like 1.5" in size. the back bumper has nicks in the paint, possibly into the bumper plastic caused by much parking in the city. If you aren't looking for a showroom auto body I think you will be comfortable with this one. Interior condition is very very good. ( ! ) way better than normal for a car this age. seats and interior carpet are still clean and newish, and seats are very comfortable too. the car is a clean and comfortable ride and still smells nice too. there is a small tear in the side part of the drivers seat in front of the seat controls. Seats are still supportive like new, and they are not blown from too much use or too much weight... they are still nice, and they appear so visually as well. + NOTE: an extremely common issue with volvo cars built during these years was the leather on the insides of the door panels shrinking and peeling off. The leather on my 4 door panels are still good, they have not been affected by this super common issue. If you are a volvo person you will know how common this is, and would appreciate a car like this one which doesn't have peeled off leather doorpanels. On the scale of "poor, fair, good, very good, excellent" I would describe the exterior as "fair-good", and the interior as "very good-excellent". 4 power locks and windows work, and so does the sunroof. radio, cassette player and cd player all work, and I know my radio theft code. Cruise control works too. Ac was working last summer, that is the last time it was used. I would imagine it is ok. Power seats work. Heating works. Car performed well before the knocking began, and turbo was performing well too. 4 turbo wheels in nice shape. Car has ceramic brake pads so the wheels stay clean of the black brake dust. corner lenses all good on all 4 corners of the car. headlight lenses good, glass good. I'm told the wheels alone could sell for $400. ( ! ) Cons: check engine light was on when we were last driving it, but I don't know for what. ABS light comes on intermittently. Body has some small imperfections as described above. car needs a new engine. and the check engine light would need to be addressed. please be understanding that this car has been on the road since 1998 and you may find an unexpected thing or two that I missed in the description. This car has been looked after well over the last 6 years of ownership, and as long as you do not come looking for a car in showroom shape I think you will find this one fine. PLEASE NOTE: If this vehicle was funtioning it would be worth around $4,000. quotes I received for engine replacement ran 600-800 for the engine plus an additional 700-900 for the labor. once the engine is done, the check engine light would need to be addressed if you need to pass emissions. also please be reminded the abs light has been coming on a lot lately. Please keep this in mind, and bid accordingly. ***update 6/20 the engine was running till a few days ago, but it has now seized up. not that it makes much difference, as the engine would have needed to be changed anyway.
