Vehicle Detail
I have owned this MGA since 1979. I am the third owner. The previous owner was a friend. The original owner was a friend of his. The block was replaced in 1971 with a block from an MGB(1800 cc). A freeze plug had rusted out and before the antifreeze could be added the first frost of the winter cracked the block. No accidents. The SU's were replaced with a Weber. I have the manifold and the SU's and they come with the car. Points were replaced by electronic ignition. Tires have less than 500 miles on them. New brake hoses all around. All brake cylinders and slave cylinder were replaced in the past six years. Silicone brake fluid. Rear Axel bearings replaced six years ago. The original color of the car was light blue. The color of the car has been Ivory since I first saw the car in 1971. The rear half of the car and front hood were repainted last year. ( I over filled the gas tank and it overflowed messing up the paint) The front needs to be repainted. (small chips and dents) The gaps on the doors are not great and the outer sills need to be replaced. The frame is straight with no rust. The floor boards are sound. They replaced in 1979 and painted with marine epoxy. The gas tank was replaced eight years ago. The tonneau cover is original and needs replacing. The convertible top was replaced in 1979 and first put on the car last year. It was placed on the frame and stored separate from the car. The leather rail cover needs attention on the ends. The driver seat upholstery is torn on the outside edge. The carpeting was new in 1979 and is close to needing to be replaced. The chrome is original and has minor pitting. The radio has not been hooked up since I've owned the car and I have no idea if it works or not. I never reinstalled the antenna since the car was painted in 1979. Never driven for the past 33 years in the winter or in rain. The car has been fun to own for the past 33 years. This is a solid car. It drives great. The 1800 cc. engine with the weber makes a big difference. Knee problems make getting out of the car unpleasant and is the reason I'm selling it. If you have any questions or need more photos contact me. I've had a number of questions on the condition of the car. The car as it sits, looks and drives well. The defects I pointed out are things to make it more suitable for showing. I also have the side curtains. The bottom rubber on these needs attention.
