Vehicle Detail
Thank You for looking at my 1953 Ford. This car is an amazing piece of history and proof of "the way it was". While the pictures speak for themselves, I can't brag about this vehicle enough. Many old cars develop "personalities" over time, requiring special procedures to make the vehicle operate. This car has none of that. No issues at all. It starts fine, runs streight and true, has no weird clunks or other noises and stops like it was built to do. All the lights work well, including the interior courtesy lights. The wiring is unmolested, and original. I wish I knew more about this cars history but I do have some clues. The people I got the vehicle from had it for 3 years. During that time it was driven to a 50th high school reunion and in one local parade. It lived most of those 3 years under a large carport and was started regularly. It wears an NSRA (National Street Rod Association) "Safety 23" decal dated 2005, and it also has an undated AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) decal. When I got the car it had aftermarket headlight rings. The factory rings are so cool, giving that "frenched" look and I got lucky that they were in the trunk, painted and wrapped in newspaper. The paper was dated 2002, so I would think that was when they were switched. Since they were painted to match the car, the paint has to be older than that. (although the paint isn't perfect, it could pass for being recent.) At one point the following gauges were added under the dash: (by looking at the bezels, I think they were added over many years) Vacuum, Tachometer, and oil pressure. Also some detailing (air breather, valve cover) in the engine compartment. Most likely it was the same fellow who added the reversing light under the rear bumper. THE MECHANICALS: The inline 6 starts well and runs smooth. There have been upgrades to the air filter, valve cover, and exhaust (Split and duals added, nice mellow tone) The 3 speed transmission shifts well, the clutch pedal could use some adjusting but works without problem. Like most rear ends there is a little hum at speed, however it doesn't become noticable until traveling above highway speeds. This car has some of the best brakes I have ever had in an old car. It stops without jerking or pulling and has great pedal pressure. Even the parking brake works great. I have driven this car to car shows about 40 miles away but would have no concerns driving it much further. When I got the car I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter (both with original style parts). The wiring is untouched and all items are present. All the lights work fine including turn signals, dash lights gauge lights etc. Even the interior courtesy lights come on when the doors are opened. THE INTERIOR: The rubber floor mat could pass for new. Seats look wonderful except for some minor issues on the side of the drivers seat (see picture) Seat belts have been installed. Door panels are nice, headliner is perfect. The dash has some minor paint fading on the top but all the gauge surrounds and faces are very nice. A third brake light has been added to the rear package tray. THE EXTERIOR: Doors, hood, and trunk all open and close well and are properly aligned. Glass is nice and clear. The car has been repainted one time. Color is very similiar to the original however new paint is metallic. Paint is very nice but does have some minor bug chips. When the car was painted, they did not paint under the hood or in the door jambs. Someone has done this later on with a brush. It does not look bad, and it is in the door jambs which are really not visable but it is not as nice as if they had been sprayed. Stainless trim is nice driver plus qualilty. Chrome looks great and bright with 1 minor spot near the bumper bolt on the front bumper showing some minor issue. Passenger side rockers are showing a few small rust bubbles, none bigger then a quarter. Driver side is better and while not perfect its really good. Easy to correct at this point as there is no signs of rust through. Trunk and passenger compartment floors are very solid. Tires could be new as they show no wear. OVERALL: This is a beautiful car that needs nothing to be the star at your local cruise in or, with a little elbow grease could easily be a show winner at any venue. Could be used as a daily driver or weekend cruiser without problem or concern. You will not be disappointed with this car, it's like driving a time machine. When was the last time you drove a new 60 year old car?
