Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1973 Karmann Ghia. I have been working on this car for a little over a year now. The list of new parts is almost too much to list... Just recently installed new coil, points, plugs, distributor, and fuel pump. 6 months ago I installed all new wheel cylinders, brake pads and shoes. That covers the mechanical. Engine runs like a sewing machine. Oil changed every 2000 miles. As a truck driver, I am only home on weekends so that is the only time it is driven. But it is driven because it is hard not to. These are just so fun to cruise in... When I bought the car, the rear windshield had been busted out. I bought a replacement out of California from another 73 model that had rear winshield defrost. It just needs to be wired up and a switch installed. I just haven't had time to do it, as I have other projects that I am juggling. The car was originally a baby blue. It was white when I bought it, but the rear half was flaking in spots and the front had a few rock chips. I have sanded down and painted the black on it. Due to the rock chips on the front, I came up with the idea to paint it with bedliner. Turned out really nice and is functional as deterrent against shopping cart dings, door dings, rock chips...etc. And, in the eventuality that I (or someone else) wants to paint the car, it is easily sanded off or carb cleaner will take it off. I just bought and installed new window rubber on all 4 windows and new front and rear windshield seals. I have a brand new black vinyl headliner to go in it, just haven't installed it yet due to the fact the rear window defroster needs to be wired first and was thinking about installing an interior light. Rear seat is original and in great condition with no cracks or tears in the vinyl. Front seats were shot (as is usually the case with VWs. I bought and installed a brand new set of padded cloth racing bucket seats in it. These are not hard plastic. These seats are padded, cloth, and comfortable enough that I wouldn't care to drive to Cali in this car. All lights work and lenses are new, taillights, parking lights, turn signals, dash lights...etc. Headlights are brand new aftermarket lights that are very bright white. They have a blue LED ring around them that I wired into the parking lights. So when the parking lights are on the headlights ar blue, but when you turn headlights on they are normal and won't get anyone a ticket. Brand new chrome front bumper bought and installed a month ago. Floor pans have been replaced in the past and were done right and are solid. Dash pad is new. New trunk emblems bought and installed just last week.. Empei black spoke wheels and tires have around 4000 miles on them. Empei dual exhaust installed at same time. This car is just is just in such great shape and so much fun to drive that I hate to part with it. And I really don't care to keep it, given that it gets 35+ miles to the gallon on top of it all. I just have other projects that need some attention and need to free up some money to do so... If you want a cool car to cruise in or for a daily driver it won't disappoint. If you want a show car, it only needs a paint job and install the headliner. I will try my best to answer any and all questions as quickly and accurately as I can. As a truck driver I am not on the computer much, but will check in as often as possible. Car is sold as/is with no warranty. It is for sale locally so auction may end early if someone shows up with cash in hand. I've had a few interested in it. Feel free to ask questions or come by/send someone by to inspect.
