Vehicle Detail
1935 Ford 5 window coupe with a flathead V8. I found this car about 8 years ago. The owner died and his son came down from Montana to sale everything off. What caught my eye originally was a 1940 Ford that had been fully restored then left to sit in the driveway for years. The kid wanted more for the 40 than I was willing to pay, but while talking to him, this car caught my eye, just barely. It was sitting in an old garage that was about ready to fall over and the only part of the car that I could see was one of the headlights and part of the grille. It was completely covered with years of old unwanted junk. There wasn’t even room to walk around it. I asked the kid about it and he said his Dad found it in an old barn about 25 years earlier and bought it to restore. He said he put it in the garage and then pretty much forgot about it. I ended up making a deal on it and trailered it home. I pressured washed the entire car inside and out to make sure there was no layers of moisture collecting dirt in the nooks and cranny’s and so I could better inspect the condition of the body. To my surprise I found almost no rust through anywhere on the body. There are a few small spots as seen in the pics but virtually nothing for a car this age. Areas I noticed are one small spot on the inside of the trunk lid, another small spot on the drivers floorboard and a small hole on the lower passenger side cowl below the hood. Compared to other cars listed on ebay that look like swiss cheese and are going for more than $10,000 this car is almost pristine. Aside from some surface rust the body was very clean. It does have some dents and dings ( most notably on the lower driver’s door, a hole on the passenger door where it looks like someone yanked a mirror off, dents on the hood. fenders and grille) but all in all its in pretty good shape for the age and in my opinion is very restorable. The car rolls around easily and the engine is not frozen. Car appears to be mostly complete, it is missing the generator and air cleaner. The intake manifold and carb are off the engine but I do have an intake and carb to go with it though. The engine and rear end appear to be original and neither are frozen. The distributor is off but is included. Has two California black on yellow license plates that are date stamped 1956 This is as/is and all sales are final. Winning bidders will be issued a bill of sale in lieu of title. I have spoke to DMV. It is out of there records and can have a title issued once a VIN inspection has been completed. I recomend all potential bidders view the vehicle in person before bidding.
