Vehicle Detail
WOW! What a GORGEOUS car! Can you imagine a better way than spending your time this summer driving around with the top down? Due to our expanding family I am forced to let this absolute gem go to the next person who will enjoy it as much as I have for the past 13 years. Up for grabs is my 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500 with only 46,706 miles on it. I bought the car with only 40,486 miles on it so if you do the math I have put less than 500 miles per year on this vehicle. I restored this car in 1999 and changed the original color of light blue to a phenomenal Toreador Red Metallic. Is this a concourse correct car? No, but it is an absolute head turner. The paint color can be found on the late 1990’s corvettes, Chrysler minivans as well as countless Ford vehicles. This car is easy to drive and starts flawlessly thanks to the Zenith Stromberg Caburetor with AUTOMATIC Choke. I do not hesitate to take this car on the highway or long trips (100-150 miles). The car is just over all a great car. The only item that comes to mind is there are a couple very small dings that I was able to capture in the photos. They are on the drivers’ side rear quarter panel. They were caused by a bicycle falling on the car while it was in winter storage. The dings can easily be repaired by a paintless dent removal company. What has been done to the car since owning it. 1. Minor metal work – reinforced rear frame rails, minor trunk patches and rear quarter panel just behind the doors. 2. Paint – all new paint 3. Interior a. New carpet set b. New seat, arm rest, door panel upholstery c. Replaced teak wood dash with Brazilian Mahogany – this deep rich color goes very well with the dark interior and Toreador Red Metallic paint d. Installed Pioneer CD player and custom mounted speakers without alterations to the car. e. Weatherstrip – Doors, windows, trunk, hood, windshield 4. Exterior a. Chrome side mirrors b. Body moldings, new when available at the time c. New decals 5. Engine / Mechanical a. Brakes – New front calipers and pads, all new rear hardware and wheel cylinders, brake lines b. Emergency brake cable – needs 2 cotter pins to hook up to rear brakes c. New CLUTCH master cylinder d. New BRAKE master cylinder e. Electronic points ignition (Crane Fireball XR700) f. New battery g. Replaced a few engine seals. h. Exhaust – a new very throaty exhaust was installed i. Sport front coil springs – increased handling and 1” lower front end What I would recommend doing to make this car just that much better. 1. Engine - Few minor gaskets and seals – I believe I have most of them. 2. Exterior – the bumper should be re-chromed. There is no pitting or flaking but the finish was dull so due to the enormous expense 13 years ago I had painted them silver – BUY IT NOW price will include high quality re-chromed bumpers 3. Interior – the dashpad is cracked and needs replacing but it is not aweful. – BUY IT NOW price will include a new dashpad and normal auction purchase will include a new dashpad cover. NOTE – it is the buyers responsibility to ask questions if they are unsure of something. I will provide more pictures (if time allows) and respond to ALL questions. Payment - $500 is due within 48 hours of auction close with the balance due within 10 calendar days of auction ending. If payment is made in other ways then paypal I require the instrument to clear my financial institution prior to the car and title being given to the buyer. Buyers beware – This is a BRITISH car. Though this one has been good they can be plagued with electrical issues such as gauges or lights not working. If you don’t have the mechanical ability to work on this car or the financial means to support your local repair shop do NOT BUY A BRITISH CAR. If you are looking for a car that drives new and does not need any repairs then do not look at classic cars and buy a new vehicle from you local dealer but if you love the thrill and nostalgia of a pure classic car than this Triumph Spitfire 1500 is right up your alley. SHIPPING – I will deliver this car within 200 miles of 44113. I have friends that have sold cars via ebay before so if you need help arranging transportation outside of the 200 miles then I am sure I can point you in the right direction. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
