Vehicle Detail

Kelly Blue Book Value: $1200     This is a cream puff of a wagon. I've owned the white whale for four wonderful years. I've driven with my sister from here in Wisconsin down to Austin, Texas and it was the ultimate road trip vehicle. Good enough on gas to not completely suck your wallet dry with a back space large enough to sleep in and not even have to snuggle up to your cooler. I've loved putting the canoe on the top rack and heading wherever the road took me.     The good: This car seats eight people easily and regularly gets 20 mpg freeway! The suspension is ridiculously cushy  - if you want to feel like you are floating down the road, this is the car for you. Nine month old tires - hardly used.  Comes with a spare too.  Brand spanking new starter and distributor, also new brake pads and rotors.  Nearly zero rust - there only bit is on the rear driver side - amazing for a car its age. Fully equipped with tan leather and power seats, sunroof, auto locks, power windows, locking glove compartment, center consul compartment with cup holders, and cassette player.  Heat works like a charm. All seat belts are present and working. Super safe vehicle. Center console and rear seats both fold up for maximum seating capacity. Back seats fold down to make an 8 foot bed.  Even 12 foot flooring is no sweat for this car!  My grandfather owned the same model and it ran until 290K miles!  This Roadmaster is seriously powerful and tow ready complete with  a hitch. With this V8 engine you can haul dang near anything.      This car is from our mid 90's so naturally it has its quirks.   The opportunities for improvement are: The front grill is missing. I hit a ditch two years ago and lost it. No frame or alignment issues from the tumble though and have had the car realigned since. The biggest hitch is that the Roadmaster has trouble starting in the rain.  The mechanic has told me it is a connection issue which I have not located yet. Anyone who purchases this vehicle would be wise to take it to their friendly mechanic to get this issue worked out. Both the hood and tailgate require some finesse to open. I believe the cable inside the back panel has come undone. Body friend said it could be an easy fix. The headliner on the passenger side of the vehicle, towards the rear, is starting to sag and there is a one inch rip in the center of the ceiling.      All in all, this vehicle has an abundance of redeeming qualities and would be perfect for the road-tripper, the family crew, or the just plain old  classic, American Made vehicle lover.
