Vehicle Detail
1978 Porsche 911SC with LS1 GM Engine This car has a 2001 Corvette LS1 5.7L motor. The engine number is 12561168 and it has the nice flowing heads, casting number 241. It has a 1999-2002 wiring harness (not the hard to find 1998 harness). It has a 1999\2000 computer. This is a mechanically sound vehicle. 915 transmission with the Toy-jet V8 conversion. This vehicle is equipped with my patented rear radiator cooling system. It is equipped with an electric water pump. Wheels are Porsche original Fuchs 7Jx16 & 8Jx16. 1998 Camaro exhaust manifolds with flow master mufflers. Car is very reliable. No more adjusting valves every six months. I have a 1980 Porsche 911SC with the LS1 conversion as my daily driver, and in the past 11 years all I did so far is routine maintenance. So far all I had to do is change oil, tires, brake shoes, and the belts. This car starts up so fast you barely hear the starter. There is little to no maintenance. There is more room to work in the engine compartment than the stock Porsche engine. Interior is good condition, front seats are Recaro and is freshly upholstered in new vinyl, and carpet is in good shape. This car has a custom heater muffler to provide heat to the passenger. MOST converted cars do not have a heater system. This is a factory AC car, but the AC is not functional. This car has an additional AC condenser underneath it for more condenser capacity. The dash has two cracks in it and needs an overlay. I have not put more than 100 miles on this car since the conversion. The tires have good rubber. There are small paint flaws but there is absolutely no rust. I did the very first LS1 Porsche conversion in 1999. I have just recently retired and I am ready to convert more vehicles on my spare time. I have sold my conversion parts to others, but now I am able to do the conversions and offer them to the public. This is not a racecar, it is a daily driver. Just take the targa top down and enjoy the cruise. You will be the talk of the town and the only one at your local car hang out with a LS1 Porsche 911. You are purchasing history. I did the first Porsche state of the art 911 LS1 conversion (not the first V8 conversion) in the world. This was the third Porsche 911 I did. Refer to my website for more pictures and to read all about my first in the world Supercharged Porsche 911 LS1 conversion. So, you are buying a conversion from the inventor who started it all. MORE Pictures and videos are at: toy-jet.com refer to page 8 or or http://toy-jet.com/index118.html I know fuel prices are sky rocketing therefore, I will pay up to $600.00 to assist in shipping to your location. I advise you to do some research: This car is priced close to what an LS1 engine, V8 conversion kit, and labor would cost. You are getting the car free! Take advantage of this steal of a deal. I have this car advertised locally, so I resereve the right to end this auction if this car is sold outside of Ebay. Thanks for your time.On May-17-12 at 09:20:18 PDT, seller added the following information: FYI The previous owner of this car is a friend of mine. He is an industrial automotive mechanic and a painter. He stripped this car down to the metal then repainted it. I seen this car when it was stripped. It had no rust issues at all. Not mentioned in my description is the fact that I replaced two rear brake lines, and the rear driverside brake caliper among other parts. I replaced the front brake calipers with aluminum calipers and the back driver side one with a cast iron one. A passenger side new rear cast iron caliper will come with the car, as a spare. Anything done to this car after purchase should be mostly cosmetic, not anything should have to be done to make this car mechanically whole. On May-18-12 at 06:31:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Question: Really? So this car is as fast as a 930 then... I'm guessing the center of gravity is higher with the V8 though affecting handling..? The facts will answer your question: 2001 LS1 Corvette engine 350hp @ 5,600 rpm. Torque 375 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm. 1978 Porsche 930 300hp @ 5,500 rpm. Torque 316 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm. The 930 engine dresses out with fan shroud is about 53 pounds heavier than an LS1 engine 930 transmission 135 lbs. 915 transmission 123 lbs.(Type in the 78 Porsche for sale) More horse power, more tourque, lighter, much more reliable and fuel-efficient. I have not experienced any major difference in the affects of the center of gravity as a result of my conversion. I will have to admit, I only drag race not road race. I also do not obstacle course race so I can not give you a fair assessment under those conditions. On May-20-12 at 05:15:17 PDT, seller added the following information: You made this statement in your ad: “This car is priced close to what an LS1 engine, V8 conversion kit, and labor would cost. You are getting the car free!” What do you mean by that? How much does a conversion kit cost? Kit Parts plus radiator system $4K up GM Crate LS1 Engine (not Corvette) $6K Labor $3.5K – 5K Thanks for your interest.
