Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This custom MGB was built on an original black plate California car. It was constructed in two stages over a few years. The final build was done by an MG enthusiast who has done both period-correct restorations and customizations of vintage (TD’s) and more modern MGs. More pictures here: http://lbgallery.smugmug.com/mgb- The engine is strong and mellow and sounds great through the custom exhaust. Ride is firm but without being harsh and is well damped. Handling is neutral and predicable with surprisingly high limits. The gearbox is effortless with a wide gap between 4th and 5th which provides a very relaxed highway overdrive (barely over 2000 RPM at 65). It's a great view from the driver's seat, looking out over the louvered hood and the scoop. It draws a lot of attention and a lot of enthusiastic comments. Cosmetically, paint is excellent with only two blemishes that I am aware of, a small chip on the left front fender and a small stress crack at the front mounting point of the left rear fender flare (both of these are shown in the photos). The finish work is of “casual show” quality. You will find little pockets of irregularity, inside the wheel arches, for example – visible in the photos – but not ones that (in my view) mar the way the car presents. The car is as clean underneath as it is above. When I purchased the B last year it was 98.6% completed. The horn, while installed, has not been fully wired. (I may get to that in the next couple weeks). Also, there is no soft top, only the (excellent) period hard top (see smugmug photos). There is a new/unopened soft top frame, and all of the soft top securing points are installed save for the two corner clips. This being California, the soft top has not been a priority for me. You’d need to order the top itself; install it on the frame; order the two corner clips; and install the soft top assembly. This is a great custom B for shows, long summer drives, or even daily commuting. It's clocked 1500 miles since completion. It will be missed, but needs to go to a good home. Bidding, Shipping, Viewing, Questions, etc. I have described the B to the best of my abilities, based on my own information and experience. It is sold in as-is, where-is condition. I am glad to answer questions, please use the Ebay email to get in touch. I will assist with shipping, but prefer a domestic sale, due to some bad prior overseas experiences. I can store the B for a period of time post-sale; please contact me and let me know your needs, prior to bidding. Bidders with zero feedback, or recent negative feedbacks, please contact me before bidding, or I reserve the right to cancel your bid. Reserve will not be disclosed during the auction process but is (in my view) very reasonable, given the time and effort in this car. Consistent with Ebay’s intended use, the auction will run to close and constitute a final sale. I would like to see the B go to a good home and to an MG enthusiast and will do my best to ensure that the new owner has a great experience with the car.On May-12-12 at 21:30:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to everyone following the auction, and for all the questions and interest in the B. Unsurprisingly, I guess, almost everyone has asked, "what's the price?" The honest answer is -- I don't really know. I want to see it go to a good home. And, there is a huge amount of time and money into the car. But, as with any custom, value isn't easy to figure out. I set a reserve based on my own investment -- but that may or may not align with what others think. So, after a lot of thought today, I'm removing the reserve price. That way the auction will decide what the B is worth. It will go to whomever values it most out of this process. I may or may not recover my investment. But, no matter what, hopefully, this will ensure that the it goes to someone who appreciates it. Technically, the reserve is now set to $1 over the current bid. So, someone go ahead and bid it over that level. Then, it's a "real" auction. Thanks and best wishes.
