Vehicle Detail
SUPER CLEAN 1990 MERCEDES 300SE. YOU WON'T FIND A NICER ONE ANYWHERE! Classical Mercedes are getting hard to find and this one is in exceptional condition. It was owned by a single family, father then daughter, from new until I bought it early in 2011. It was originally in Texas and Colorado and then the daughter took it to the Portland, OR area where I bought it. The car has always been garage-kept and regularly serviced. I have service records going back to the original invoice in March, 1990. As the pictures show the dash and interior woods are in near perfect condition. The leather seats are in excellent condition except for the usual scuff where the driver enters the drivers seat. There is a professionally installed Alpine stereo with CD player, USB for ipod/mp3 and upgraded speakers. Both the previous owner and I have used only premium gas and I have made a point of protecting the interior from sunlight and extreme heat. Everything works: window switches, seat switches, sunroof, heating and cooling. The previous owners installed a factory rebuilt head in 2009 and at that time replaced the radiator, fan, water pump and distributor among other things. Over the past year I have installed new front shocks, replaced the drive shaft components, the rear axles, new cruise control components and a new Interstate battery. The original paint now 22 years old, is in surprisingly good condition. There are some chips and minor touch-ups and the paint on the hood doesn't have that deep shine. The left front lens cover was hit by a small rock (picture) but the hole doesn't go all the way through. The dependable 6-cylinder engine gets 26 mpg at 65 mph on the freeway and about 18 in town. There is an oil leak that my mechanic thinks is coming from the front crank seal. My strategy on this was to wait until other work in was needed in that area. It amounts to about half a quart of oil over 2000 miles of driving. There is also an occasional vibration, usually at about 60 mph. It is like a wheel balance problem but it comes and goes. For the moment it is a mystery. This is a well-loved Mercedes. Its heft and solidity is unlike any other car. It will pain me to see it go! The is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. The car will be sold to the highest bidder. If you have any questions, just ask!.
