Vehicle Detail
On a budget but still want to cruise in style, I don't know... maybe go camping, hit the beach, the desert, the mountains, or just the highway... This is the ultimate blank canvas, drive and enjoy it the way it is, and when you're good and ready, paint it any color that your HEART desires. I bought this from another fellow VW freak and friend who replaced the rockers and threw a light coat of primer over the original L-87 pearl white paint. I had the idea of restoring it,but as fate would have it I bit off more than I can chew, again. So here it is and I need to let it go in basically the same condition as I got it. Buy selling it this way, I can keep the price down and the lucky new owner can drive it just the way it is, or restore it at their leisure. Mechanically, this bus is as good as it gets!!! It just runs and drives like a dream. With a rebuilt 1600 single port motor converted to 12 Volts with around 15,000 miles on it. (unfortunately I did not receive any paperwork on the motor) The transaxle shifts smooth and doesn't grind or pop-out of any gears. Front-end is tight and doesn't wander or clunk. Good brakes all the way around stops straight with great pedal. All rolling on cool heavy duty tires. I left the best part for last, the way hip original Westfalia camper interior with a factory pop-top. This great van is ready to go camping and sounds tight going down the road. Not to mention that it is so practical and most importantly, looks so nice inside. I could go on and on about this happy fun bus, but I think that I'll just cut to the chase and list some of highlights: ENGINE -Rebuilt 1600 Single Port -120 to 125 pounds compression -New Carburetor -12 Volt Alternator -Just tuned-up -Electric fuel pump ELECTRICAL -Newer 12 Volt Interstate Battery -Fuel gauge works -Lights work -Blinkers work INTERIOR -Original paint on dash looks great -Nice original rear bench/bed -Newer paneling -New front door and kick panels -New front seat cover in original basket weave vinyl -Clean original cabinets MISCELLANEOUS -New retro wooden roof rack -Original Radio (not hooked-up) looks great -Front Seat belts -New Curtains -New tires FUN STUFF -Starter set of new camping supplies -All included with purchase!!! So there are a few minor things that could use some attention on this great bus...the horn, speedo, and wipers don't work...I think that they're a pretty simple fix but I just don't have the time to address it right now. There is also some rust in the dog legs which is not structural, pretty common, and can be replaced for around twenty bucks a piece. Lastly, the rear corners and lower front nose could use some massaging before painting...again another common bus thing. If you look at the pictures you'll also notice that the paneling on the roof needs to be replaced, again just a little sweat equity. Overall this is a fantastic original Westy with tons of potential!!! As you well know, these baby's keep going up,up,up in value. So invest in precious metals and bid with confidence.... It's getting late and I need to get this listed....If you have any questions feel free to call me @720-270-5637. If your local and serious your welcome to set up a personal showing. I am open to reasonable offers on my Buy It Now if you don't want to wait for the auction to end. Be sure to learn more about me by clicking on the "me" link next to my feedback. As a licensed Colorado dealer I have sell the bus as miles exempt due to its age. Good luck bidding and thanks for checking out my auction. Peace, Joey
