Vehicle Detail
1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL SILVER CONVERTIBLE/HARD TOP with restored burgundy interior with 75,345k original miles Be prepared to be stopped CONSTANTLY in this beautiful classic Mercedes for a look! I could not drive anywhere without people asking to look at or buy this awesome car. At every stop light, someone yells, "I LOVE your car!" CONDITION: good-ishI am the third owner. According to the 2nd owner, who bought the car in 1999, the car has been garage kept and only driven in the summer since he bought it. In the past 5 years, he put $20,000 worth of engine work and undercarriage and body restoration. SOFT TOP: brand new vinyl top, but is very difficult to stretch over the car. This happens with tops that have been in storage for awhile and is very common for a car this age. HARD TOP: good condition some paint starting to bubble at the base, but still looks great FEATURES: body was entirely stripped and repainted about 5 years ago and fitted with new soft top full $20,000 engine restore/rebuild and undercarraige restoration in 2007 AUTOMATIC Transmission Has rare dealer installed AC unit (non-working) Newly tuned up with new points and spark plugs Spare tire Alpine CD player with iPod input Newish shocks (1year) Until late August 2011, the car was stored in temperature controlled garage. Since then, has been covered in sunny California. Some paint bubbles over right rear tire well, a tiny paint bubble over left rear tire well, and some at the base of hard top (pictured)small paint chip on hood (pictured)some cracking in the paint near rear tail light (pictured) Car runs, but recently has had some difficulty with hills and sometimes stalls while idling. I'm not sure why. There is some rust, as expected on a 47 year old car, but she ran great for the entire time I've had her.
