1971 Dodge Challenger383 V8 4 SpeedBarn Find Up for auction is a 1971 Dodge Challenger that was recently taken out of 15 year barn storage on Long Island, New York. I purchased this car with the intent of turning it into a mild pro touring street car, but one of my other projects has turned into a full blown restoration, so due to time and money I am offering the Challenger for sale. From what I have decoded of the VIN it is an original 318 manual trans cars. Other options included, power steering, power brakes, Tuff wheel, Air Conditioning (no components except panel and AC dash), Pistol Grip 4 speed, console, rear defrost and very desirable Rally Gauge cluster. Prior to being put into storage the motor seems to have been freshened up or rebuilt (see photos.) I cleaned up the engine bay with some paint and chrome. The car also has new front brake pads, calipers and master cylinder. Complete glass throughout the car including new windshield. The body of the car overall is good condition. It has had new quarter panels put over the original. There are some spots in the floors that have been patched. The bottom of the doors have had some work. Subframe and unibody are solid. The hood is a fiberglass TA liftoff style hood. Mechanically the car can be driven around a yard. It is not fully road worthy yet, but it does stop and runs very strong. Starts on a dime and has tons of power. Very healthy street motor. My son built E bodies for a living at XV motorsports for 3 years, so we know these cars in and out. This is a good base to build a fun car off of. It has the potentially to be restored to original, make an RT clone, or go all out pro touring. The choice is up to the next owner.
