Selling Another Classic European Sports CarI have been a classic car enthusiast for 9 years buying mostly Porsches Mercedes and BMW’s because in my opinion, nothing compares to German engineering. I used to own a dealership and have also helped several international buyers locate, purchase, and export these beautiful cars back to their place of origin for private collection therefore I accept and welcome bidders from around the world. Some vehicles I sell are my personal cars, others are ones that I am listing on behalf of others, but I always drive the cars and describe them to the best of my ability. Prior to bidding on any of my vehicles, please make sure to ask any questions as your bid is a binding contract stating that you accept the car in AS IS condition. All sales are final- I simply will not put up with anyone who is just shopping or wasting time. YOU MUST HAVE FUNDS READY TO MAKE FULL PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS PER AUCTION TERMS IN ORDER TO BID. I know that most ebayers and classic car collectors are stand-up people but there are a few out there who simply should not be buying cars online. I do my best to describe the cars as they are in my opinion but in order to make sure that the cars are up to your standards it is your responsibility to inspect the car in person or have your assigned agent inspect the car, otherwise you are buying the car based on my opinion only- I am not a certified car inspector or mechanic- just an enthusiast that has been around a lot of classic cars so when you bid on my car you are indicating that you are satisfied with its condition and take responsibility for your decision to bid. That disclaimer being stated, here is the description I offer for this particular car: The high bidder will become the new owner of this beautiful 1980 Porsche 911 SC. This car had been previously owned by the same person for over 20 years and it has obviously been well maintained throughout its life. It is not a perfect car, but is a very solid driver that you won’t be afraid to take out for regular drives, in fact you might just want it as your daily driver. The previous owner bought this car and drove it sparingly during his ownership, living in Oregon and recently Montana where he retired and decided he no longer needs his SC. It has always been stored properly- being put up on blocks to save the suspension and has been started and ran from time to time to keep the mechanics in good condition between drives. I did ZERO restoration to the car- how you see it is EXACTLY how it looked coming out of his private storage unit where he kept the car during winter months. The owner has been a long time Porsche enthusiast and did his own maintenance on the car through his ownership, keeping it in very good mechanical order. My overall assessment is that this car is in good condition and is a solid driver. It runs and drives very well and does not seem to have any mechanical issues. This car has a NADA classic car value of between $18,500 and $28,700 and these cars continue to climb in value year over year as they become harder to find. That being said this car will sell to the highest bidder- I believe that value is determined by what people are willing to pay for a car which is why I list cars at NO RESERVE. As mentioned this car is in good condition across the board- below is my very detailed an honest description of this car. Most people would just say “excellent condition” and not give all the details but I try to include everything, good and bad. Cosmetically this car is beautiful to look at inside and out and is a head turner around town. There really aren’t any major issues inside or out- just typical wear and tear for a car with the mileage/age this one has. In fact I’d say the exterior and interior are better than what one would expect compared to most Porsches I have seen from this era. The paint shines up and looks great for a driver but if you want to enter this into a show there are a few spots when you get right on top of the car that you can notice some blemishes where the previous owner did some touch up paint including a ding between the gas tank fill valve and the headlight. There are also some spots where you can see some very faint cracks in the paint if you look very closely- again it looks great and is all you need for a driver but if you want a showroom finish you might go for some refinishing. It was a non smoker so there are no foul smells . All the pans are solid including the battery housing and front clip. The door panels, carpets, front and rear seats are in good condition- just one seam where the stitching is out on the driver's side but no tears in the leather. There are no cracks in the dash and the targa top is in good shape. The wheels are in great shape with no curb rash. The widshield has a rock chip and also has a crack near the wipers that does not obstruct your view so depending on your safety inspection guidelines, you might just treat those with a sealer so they don't spread and be fine.Mechanically the car is solid. The tranny shifts fine, the motor pulls strong, and it handles nice and tight. The brakes are solid and the suspension feels good. The car drives straight without vibrations or pulling one way or another. The AC components are all there but some parts were disconnected and never put back together because of the mild climate the car was driven it- see photos of the parts come with the car. The wheels are in good shape but the rear tires are worn. The ODO currently reads 86,606 but the previous owner said that he hit the trip reset a few hundred miles ago and the ODO stopped tracking along with the trip. He says that the mileage was correct and that it should still be under 87K but I have no way to verify that. Based on how the car looks and drives, it is believable but you can't know for sure. All of the gauges seem to work as they should and the power windows work very well. Long story short, I would feel comfortable jumping in this car today and driving it across the country. Again- not a perfect car as I'm sure that anyone can find things wrong with a car that is 32 years old but it does not appear to have rust, oil leaks, or any of the other common issues that plague these classic 911 models. In summary, this is a hard to find 1980 911 that is a solid driver. I really like the attention this car gets from anyone who sees it. It would make a great classic sports car toy that still has a lot of life left in it- it’s really only in it's infancy for these motors and can handle many many more good years of aggressive and thrilling motoring. Feel free to ask questions prior to bidding. I can provide a reference for arranging very affordable transportation for this car to any state or port in the USA.
