1949 CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK, RESTORATION BEGUN, 45 PHOTOS NO RESERVE AUCTION! Okay here's the deal with this truck. It was a high school shop project that was begun but not finished. It has been totally dis-assembled and re-assembled as a roller. It was a complete running truck when restoration was started. When I say dis-assembled, I mean to almost the last nut and bolt. Every part is included. From the ashtray to the original spare tire hanger. The frame has been cleaned and sanded ( by hand ). The engine was taken apart and some smaller parts may be missing. There are so many buckets and boxes of parts, it's hard to tell. The big question everyone will ask is about rust. The only rust is in the places where these trucks had rust on the showroom floor. The cab corners. Except for surface rust, that's all. I've never seen one with less rust. The left front fender is dented as you can see in the photos. Everything else is amazingly straight. It blows me away how clean and straight the bed and tailgate are. This is not a former restoration and I haven't seen any bondo. You are gonna ask about the front suspension. I've never seen it done but a later model front crossmember has been bolted into the frame. It looks professionaly done (?). It gives you IFS, disk brakes and crossmember mounts for any Chevy V8 you want to use. It will need a different steering setup because of the IFS. The rear axle is the original with the torque tube drive shaft. There is no title with this truck and it will be sold with a bill of sale. I have included 45 pictures of everthing.
