Vehicle Detail
Hello classic car enthusiasts. What we have here is a solid 1967 Datsun 1600 Roadster that would make a perfect parts car. PLEASE make this car into something through another Roadster. It wants to be restored but there is just no way I will be able to get a title. I was very dissapointed in this fact, and decided to help the elderly lady sell the car in respect to her and classic car enthusiasts. -- The story as I know it. It was a Georgia car, brought up to Delaware when her family moved. There was never a title to begin with as that is the way it is (was?) in Georgia. The ladies house burned down, and both her son and husband have passed way. Now she is in ill health, and does not have the means or the desire to try to find a legal way to get a copy of the title. THERE IS NO TITLE!!!! PARTS CAR ONLY!!!!! I don't even have the keys to it,nor could she find them. This is the way she would like me to sell it. When I heard the story of the car, I REALLY wanted to restore it. Whoever buys this car, I want to keep track with so I can see it become something else. Ok, enough of that (Sorry I really like classics with a story behind them.. Especially Datsuns). -- What I know about the condition of the car is not much beyond skin deep. I tried to take comprehensive pictures of it. I have not done anything to this car other than remove the top, pump the tires up and put on new valve stem caps :) I will describe by category.... -- Body: It looks to be in solid condition overall. I have no idea what it looks like under the aftermarket paint job, but many of the body panels can probably be used. The rockers look ok, and the door jambs look really good actually. I took two pics of the major rust I could find. Back quarter panel, and area around trunklid. The wheels are cool looking, but need to be stripped and refinished. They are ORIGINAL datsun wheels I believe. The tires hold air, but are dryrotted. The windshield looks nice, and some Chrome trim looks good, others have surface rust. The hood looks great inside and out. I do not know what is under the trunk, as I do not have keys to her. The vinyl top is majorly ripped, but retracts as I believe it should. the hardtop looks quite nice, but needs ALL new weatherstripping. The lines you see on the back glass are dirt on the inside from bad weatherstripping. -- Interior: The interior needs a whole lotta love. The carpet that I can see looks ok, but smells mildewy. The seats are very nice believe it or not, but are not bolted to the floor for some reason. I've seen seats in worse shape sell for 100's on here. The steering wheel is salvagable, the dash is severly cracked, and the shifter doesn't seem to want to go in any gear. The speedometer needle is missing, and I have no idea how many actual miles it has. Somebody tried to put an aftermarket alarm system in it. The wiring for that is behind the backseat. I wouldn't trust too much of the wiring on this car honestly. I was gonna get a whole new harness for it. -- underneath/ engine bay: I took a few pics underneath. The suspension is solid, but there are some holes in the frame. Overall it doesn't look too bad. The frame x-brace looks really good to me. The floor pans don't "seem" to be rusted, but I'm not making any promises. The wheels bearings are shot. It's hard to roll this little car around because of it. As far as the engine and drivetrain goes, the lady told me her son had it out and running a few years ago. It doesn't look like it's been started in YEARS, so I have no idea about that. It's all there though, ready for a nice rebuild, a different chassis and the road. Well that's about all I know about this car. I'm not sure if I could answer any more questions that I haven't tried to cover above. I just want to see this car turn into something. Thanks very much for your time -- Bob BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will help the guy load it up on the flatbed to the best of my ability, but that's it. The e-brake does not work well, and I wouldn't trust the brakes to hold this girl on a car carrier while he secures it. I had trouble with that in my 280Z, and it was in near showroom condition.
