You are bidding on a 1972 VW Beetle with an auto-stick transmission. The car has been restored, it runs very well and it could be driven home by the perspective buyer. I want to sell the car of course, and I also want to be totally honest with the potential buyer so they can bid with confidence. The restoration was begun by a previous owner, so I don’t know all of the history. The car has a clean title. The good: · Low miles - 38,000 miles (I cannot prove this but I know the car was not moved for years. Also, the engine doesn’t seem like it has turned over) · New paint (actually 7 years old but car was not driven and garage kept) · New tires · New interior and carpet · New brake lines (rubber portion only), brake pads are good · Engine tuned up with new Bosch ignition parts · Oil has been changed · Everything works (lights, horn, HEAT, etc.) · Drives nice The bad: · The paint job is good, but some has chipped off in a couple of places. You have to know where to look, so probably no big deal. There are a few runs and drips here and there. · There is no radio · Wipers work but are a little slow · The brakes should be bled more to get the pedal up higher. They don’t leak or anything, but I couldn’t do any better by myself. · The car drives well but new bushings in the front end would make it tighter. · The floor pans are actually pretty good.
