This 2001 S500 runs and looks good overall. The engine compartment is clean. The exterior paint is good except it does have some rust on the bottom edge of the pass side doors. The front passenger door bottom edge has small holes through the metal from the rust. The rear pass door is better, but still has some rust. There are a few minor bubbles of rust under the paint near some edges and on the trunk lid edge. There are a few minor scratches and paint chips on the lower front bumper etc. Most everything works except the fuel gauge is inaccurate and the climate control blower makes a little noise like a dry bearing. I have had this car about 3 years and have driven it part time. I have put about 30,000 miles on it and drive it on long trips regularly. I purchased the car from an insurance company. The car was in a fresh water flood in a parking lot in Chicago. No water ever got into the car, but the lot it was in did flood some other cars. I had to get a "rebuilt" title for the car, since the insurance company always totals out flood cars. As I mentioned above, I drove the car immediately after buying the car and have put about 30K miles on it since buying from the insurance company. I pulled up the carpet and padding when I got it to make sure it wasn't ever wet inside. It was in like new condition and there is no smell. This car is loaded with all the great S model fetures like auto-shut doors, rear blinds, all seats heated, navigation, etc... This car is actually pretty good on gas for all the power it has. I see about 20 mpg daily driving and up to 26 mpg on the highway.
