HERE'S A RARE GEM... HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS CLAIMED IT AS ONE OF THEIR TOP FIVE SLEEPER CLASSICS UNDER $10,000. This is the Chrysler TC a joint venture build with Maserati. One of 3764 built in 1989. Similar to the Mercedes SL coupes, this car came with the hard top that sported the opera window and the stow away soft top. This model came with the 160hp Daytona turbo inter cooled engine. Chrysler sent the platform to Milan Italy, and Maserati did their magic. Originally a concept car, It would be Chrysler's first 2 seat Roadster. It was designed before the Lebaron coupe but production set-backs slowed it's introduction, and the Lebaron stole the show, making the TC seem less desirable. Though Chrysler's intentions of making a rare exotic, the $33,000 price tag in '89 seemed too much, for what seemed like a glorified Lebaron. Under close inspection, one can see the many differences, and understand the cost of this fine car. Had this car come out before the Lebaron, it probably would have been a success. TC stood for Touring Convertible. Lot's of handcrafted workmanship went into this car, custom sheet metal work, hand stitched leather, designer styling, even the expensive Fondmetal wheels (formula one builder), and anti-lock 4-wheel disc brakes The Bordeaux color interior and the Royal Cabernet paint was a rare '89 production only. Now to this car... ONLY 60,500 MILES! This is a two owner car bought from an older gal that passed away. A family friend purchased the car, had it about a year, and only put 300 miles on it. This car is loaded! comes with all the amenities. a rack to store the hard top with its own cover, and a car cover for when its stored, and a factory service manual. The car runs and drives great! smooth power, shifts fine, no shimmies or shakes. The paint is good, the clear coat is starting to haze in spots and a few scratches. The interior is in excellent shape, a little wear spot on the drivers seat, and the black leather on the dash has shrunk at the seam. Michelin tires, good tread , some aging on the sidewalls. Over all a nice, sound car, worthy to take a road-trip! Truly a sweet car, I'd love to keep it... but I'm a catch and release guy. I've enjoyed it, now you can too.
