Vehicle Detail

Well hello again....What you are looking at here today is a very interesting project. Well, at least it was to me. I have a large handicap van factory in the Atlanta area that my sons pretty much run so Dad has been free to play with his 30+cars and 45 year British car addiction. I have 2 Brits who work on my cars only so I am a dangerous car addict. That said, I am also not as young as I sometimes think I am and am at a point in my life that I am letting go of several of my cars and projects. This car is, or was a good 1973 Jensen Interceptor SP #1408487. Without any engine or transmission. I was interested in it because it is NOT a rust bucket....I repeat NOT a rust bucket. If you have ever been around Interceptors (I sold them new here at Baker Motor co in Atlanta) you know a couple things about them. 1) They cannot stay cool. The monterous 440 V8 just cooks everything in the engine bayand makes all your wiring "crispy critters". 2) They seemed to be rusting when they were built and it went down hill from there. Don't get me wrong, the Jensen Interceptor is a beautiful, large, GT car as attractive as any Aston, Ferrari, or Maserati of their day. What I set out to build was a "Usable" Jensen Interceptor" . I bought this car some time ago because it had a solid body. It does not have giant holes everywhere like many. There was some perforation in the pass floor where wet carpet had rusted through, but as I said, we have a metal factory and this was a simple repair for us which we have done. The rest of the body is very solid (see photos). I intended to install a 2005 Jaguar supercharged V8 from an XJR sedan. This engine is light, fast, cool running, smaller and injected. (I have all this excellent running gear, electronics, trans, everything needed for this conversion if you want to buy it for an additional $5000). Otherwise, this would be a perfect car for a GM LT1 or other American modern power plant. The engine bay is huge, frame rails are beefy and out of the way. The trans tunnel is big. The balance would be better than just about any other conversion you could come up with. At this time it is a blank canvas, but when you are done, at least you would have something different than you normal V8 XJS or XJ6 or common car. The Interceptor is having a real resurrence in polularity and is a definate 1970s icon. They were very expensive and there is going to be a new Jensen Interceptor coming within 2 years. (google it). This car as I said has a solid body, good differential, front suspension. It has all perfect glass. It has an electric glass moonroof (installed when car was new). It's seat are there as is most of the interior but needs redoing. What it is missing is the emblems, some side lights and gauges and a number of little trim bits. All is available reasonably from several sources I can give you for both used and new. Also if you are a glutton for punishment, I can put you onto the orignal type engine and trans. This would be a really different car that most will not have any idea what it is when they see it but know it is really special. I am going to let it go to the highest bidder. You must have a paypal account to bid as I will require a $500 deposit by paypal within 48hrs. I will answer what questions I can and you are welcome to come or send someone to view the car at our Atlanta area factory. Viva....wild car projects....happy bidding. Bob
