2004 Lincoln Town Car Why am I selling it: I bought this on Sunday 2-19-2012. I bought it with two options in mind. If I can sell it quickly for more than I paid for it, I’ll do that. If not, it is going to replace my Crown Victoria as my daily driver. Either option is fine by me. I am not a car dealer. I have an office job. If I find a good deal on a car, truck, atv, tractor, etc, I will buy & re-sell said item for additional income. Story of this car: The original owner was an elderly woman who bought a new Lincoln Town Car every two years. She bought this new for over $42,000 in 2004. She gave it to her grandson in 2006. At the time it had approximately 24,000 miles on it. The grandson is a CPA and was very meticulous about maintenance. He stated that whenever maintenance was needed, it was performed ASAP. He stated that other than oil, brakes, tires, batteries, etc, the car has only needed one significant repair: Around 80,000 miles, the exhaust started to rattle. The emissions equipment warrant was still in effect and both catalytic converters were replaced free of charge. The car has a newer battery (December of 2010—it’ stamped on the battery). The man that I bought the car from had just ordered a new Mercedes and sold this car to me for a good price on 2-19-2012. I have the original window sticker for this car. Exterior: The paint is very shiny, and the body is not dented anywhere. The chrome trim on the car is in overall good shape. The chrome covering on the grille does have some bubbles in it—you don’t notice it unless you stare at it, but I wanted to point it out. The only blemishes are the front driver corner of the bumper cover—it is scuffed from a car contacting it in a parking lot when the previous owner had it—and the rear bumper cover has a few scratches in it where the elderly lady backed into something—I believe it was in her own garage. I have pictures of the two blemishes. On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate the body of the car as an 8—deducting one point for each of the scuffs. While not a big deal to most people, the car has OEM installed mud guards. This saves the lower portion of the car a lot of rock chips/dings over the years. I live on a gravel road in the country, so I pay attention to things like this. Interior: It is clean. It has never been smoked in. The car does have 164K miles on it, so the driver seat does not look brand new (obviously), but everything is clean. The heater & AC work. The CD radio works. The steering wheel has controls for the cruise, the heat/AC temp & blower, and the radio. All of these work. All of the power windows, door locks, and power seats function as they should. The interior smells clean, the headliner is clean, etc. Drivetrain: The engine starts right up, idles smoothly, does not make any bad sounds, smoke, or do anything else that it shouldn’t. The trans shifts firmly in all gears. The car is very quiet. The previous owner said that the Check Engine light comes on periodically and it is due to a gas cap/emissions device. He said that it is on more than it is off. I have put a few hundred miles on the car since I bought it, and the check engine light has not come on at any time. I certainly am not worried about a check engine light for emissions reasons, but I wanted to disclose it. The front tires have excellent tread. The rear tires are worn. The suspension is quiet and the car rides great. The car has air suspension, and it works as it should. It does not leak. The pump does not run excessively, etc. Pictures: All pictures in this auction were taken on Monday 2-20-2012 @ 9:00 am. Other: This car is priced well below what other 2004 Lincoln Town Cars are priced at on ebay. The drivetrain in these cars is very reliable—look at how many are for sale on ebay at the moment with over 300,000 miles on them. My current daily driver is a former state patrol Crown Victoria with the same basic engine & transmission. It has over 220,000 miles on it and still runs great. I would not hesitate to drive this car to California tomorrow. Check my feedback. I give honest descriptions of everything I sell. I assure you that I am not hiding any issues with this car. With that said, the car obviously does not come with any kind of warranty. You buy it, you own it. Again, if it doesn’t sell, it is going to become my new daily driver. If I didn’t think the car was mechanically sound, I would not consider keeping it. I seriously doubt that you will find a nicer 2004 Lincoln Town Car for under $4500. Location: Philo, Ohio. I do want to note that the transport company needs to have a single or dual car trailer—a semi tractor-trailer will not fit back my driveway. Payment: A nonrefundable deposit of $500 must be made on the date of purchase. Full payment of the car must be made within three business days unless prior arrangements are made. I accept paypal, certified bank check, or cash in person. The car will not leave my driveway until any payment has cleared into my bank account. If the buyer chooses to pay the entire balance via paypal, I will accept that if the buyer adds 2.9% to cover my paypal fees.
