Vehicle Detail

Thank you for viewing my auction. You are looking at a 1977 Jaguar 5.3 XJC (XJ12C). I have owned this car or a few months and it is currently registered in my name, and has a clear blue Texas title. I will give you as much detail as I know about this car. General I believe this car was originally a fuel-injected V-12 car delivered in Europe, hence the chrome bumpers and bonnet- pull located on the right side and the 7 inch Euro lights. The car was delivered without air-conditioning and with vinyl seats. I am unsure if the seats are original as leather was only available in North American. The seats and carpets are in good shape. It will need a headliner. The car has a sunroof which appears to be sealed. Drive train, Electrical System, Brakes, Steering and Suspension The car is easy to drive and has good power. It is very beautiful and I usually get complimented on it every time I drive it. However, I will consider this as a project car as it has little items that need addressing which will require work by the new owner. The V-12 has been replaced by a GM V8 with a mid-70’s 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetor. This gave me drivability issues so I replaced intake manifold with an edelbrock 2101 intake and the carburetor with an edelbrock 1406. While I was at it, I also flushed the coolant, replaced the valve covers and the gaskets. The car now starts and runs instantly in warm and cold conditions. I would not hesitate in driving it anywhere. The above mentioned work was performed less then a month ago to the tune of $1000.00 and I have been driving the car on a regular bases in order to make sure that it behaves well. The transmission currently in the car is a GM TH700R4 4 speed automatic. The radiator appears to be stock with a custom electric fan and shrouds. The brakes work very well with a recently rebuilt rebuilt master cylinder and rear calipers and new pads were put in all four corners at the same time. The alternator was replaced with a rebuilt GM alternator with additional amps. The battery is a Sears Diehard. The starter button has been relocated to the console where the cigarette lighter would have been. The power steering works well and the rack seals were replaced recently by the previous owner. The shocks are old and could stand to be replaced. The engine is strong running and though it has plenty of power it is not a very fast motor. It does leak a tiny bit of oil out of the valve covers. Fuel System The XJ’s have two 10 gallon fuel tanks; one on the left and one on the right. In this car, only the right side (passenger side) tank is operable and connected to the drive train. I have no idea what shape the left side is in, I was told not to use it. Exterior Paint and Body: Overall, the body is very straight and the paint is good; going towards fair in some areas. There are some chips. Under the vinyl top, there appears to be rust bubbling up but it has not gone completely through. There is no headliner as the car has a sunroof (aftermarket) which leaked and damaged it.There is also some minor bubbling along the body seam between the lower edge of the doors and the rocker panel. There was some rust on the drivers side floor board which I had repaired. Chrome and Trim: All chrome and trim is present and is in good to excellent condition. The car has the optional chrome wheels. One piece of trim is missing, that is the “Fuel Injection” trim - - a piece about 3 ½ “ long that goes beneath the “Jaguar” trim on the driver’s side boot deck between the left taillight and the license plate. Glass: The windscreen has a crack about 6” long running vertically adjacent to the passenger’s side front roof pillar. All other glass is in good shape. I have checked prices online by searching websites that offer instant quotes or auto glass and the installed price for a replacement is around $200. I cannot give you the link as ebay no longer allows link but if you search online for instant quote auto glass, you should be able to confirm this. All other glass is in good shape. Interior: Overall, the interior is complete and in good shape with the exception of the headliner which is not the original and has fallen in due to the leaking of the sunroof. The front seat covers, kick panels and door panels are in good shape, with all trim. The rear seat has one busted seam, otherwise its holding together nicely. The carpet is complete and in good shape. The dash pad is complete but has two cracks that are not all that noticeable. The wooden dash is in fair condition, with some chipping. The glove box and console are functional .Tires: Tires are brand new and in excellent shape. Reason for sale: I have too many projects right now including 75 XJ12C and a 78 XJ12 Sedan. If I keep this car, I plan to convert it back to a V12. It is a far nicer car then my 75 and I am hoping that I can sell it in order to fund the restoration of the other car. Payment and shipping. As this car is used, I am selling it in "As is" condition. All sales are final and I do file non paying bidders to recover my listing fees. A deposit of $500 will be required with 48 hours of the end of the auction and full payment must be made within 7 days. Buyer will have to make arrangements for collection or shipping. I will work with the shipper when it comes to loading. As this auction is open to international buyers, I urge you to contact shipping companies in advance and inquire about shipping. Please serious buyers only, If you are interested in the vehicle, contact me before the end of the auction and I will be happy to discuss anything and everything with you.
