Vehicle Detail

Completely restored in 2009 by previous owner. I have had it for 2 years and regretfully must pass it on. It needs nothing and is an absolute joy to drive. The rumble when you start it up is worth every penny. It is exceptionally clean on the outside, the interior, the engine bay, underneath, and in the trunk. As you can see in the pictures, it is a fabulous car. There are only two things that I would mention to a prospective owner. The previous owner had it professionally painted, and he mentioned that the painter asked him if he wanted the high-end paint job or the normal paint job. He got the normal paint job and it is only average. What I mean by that is that from 3 feet away it looks perfect, but if you inspect every inch closely, there are a couple of flaws. I only mention that because I am exceptionally picky. Second, the turn signal does not self-cancel after turning left. This is just a matter of taking the steering wheel off and adjusting the little pins that do the self-canceling, but I never got around to doing this. I have a clear title. I also have every receipt from the renovation in a folder that is about 2" thick. Even have documents on the car back to the 1960's. Pretty much everything is new, including: New paint. New interior. New carpet. New upholstery. New 302 crate engine. New Holly 390 carb. Hedman ceramic headers, Magnaflow exhaust. AOD transmission professionally rebuilt Air conditioning. Power rack and pinion steering. Power boost brakes; Granada disks up front, standard drums in rear. Flaming River chrome tilt steering column; new steering wheel. Halogen headlights, GT factory fog lights. 620 springs on front with all new polyurethane bushings, new rear springs with poly bushings. Stainless steel brake and gas lines. 16” Bullet wheels with 225x8x16 Yokahama tires. 20” 4-core radiator. New rear end; 8” traction lock 3.25 gear. Specifics: BODYWORK: The car was stripped down to the last nut and bolt, then the underside, floor, trunk and engine compartment was carefully sandblasted, then primed. The engine compartment and underside was painted satin black; the trunk was treated to a light tone of spatter paint. Reassembly started with a new cadmium-plated master bolt kit. New parts include the front fenders, deck lid and front and rear valances. The body (including door jambs and underside of hood and deck lid) was shot with three coats of primer, and the color changed to Infernal Red, using pearl base PPG paint and two coats of clear. Silver stripes were added to give it a GT appearance. All paint and body work was professionally done by Daniels Restoration of Augusta, Georgia. CHASSIS: Every part of the front and rear suspension has been replaced with new parts, with handling and power-assist upgrades. On the front suspension, the ball joints were replaced, mounting Granada-style spindles. Polyurethane bushings replace all rubber suspension bushings, front and rear. Granada front disc brakes were installed with all-new rotors, calipers and wheel bearings. Springs and shocks (front and rear) are Grab-A-Trak units, with new 620 lb. front springs, new 4-leaf rear springs and gas shocks. Out back, a completely new third member was added to the original 8" housing, containing a Traction-Lock posi unit, 3.25 gear and a new pinion yoke. The rear axle operates quietly. New wheel bearings and seals were installed. The rear drum brakes were retained, with new wheel cylinders, shoes and drums. A complete new Flaming River power rack and pinion steering unit was installed, which includes a Flaming River-specific power steering pump, billet pulley and remote billet aluminum reservoir. Power brakes were added, with a dual master cylinder and stainless brake lines. Stainless gas lines were added also, along with a new gas tank. GLASS, BRIGHTWORK AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS: Exterior chrome is all new, with functional GT fog lamps and original running horse center grill piece. New Halogen headlights. New tail lights. Windshield is new; remaining glass is in very good condition. INTERIOR: Black, with new carpet, headliner, new seat foam and seat covers. New dash pad, white faces on instrument panel gages. New, accurately calibrated speedometer and speedo cable. New carpeted floor mats with Mustang logo match exterior color perfectly. New Flaming River chrome tilt steering column and steering wheel. Custom Auto AM/FM cassette stereo with matching speakers. Door sill trim plates are new, with illuminated red Mustang graphics. Has factory-type air conditioning unit that blows cold even on hot summer days. TRUNK: New jack and handle, new OE-style trunk mat with matching spare wheel cover. ENGINE AND UNDERHOOD: Complete 302 Windsor crate engine, rebuilt by Five Star Engines in Phoenix, Arizona. A quality near-stock rebuild, with 9:1 compression for pump gas compatibility, and a cam that's just one step above stock (idles smoothly, with good power brake performance). Has a polished aluminum intake and a Holley 390 carb with electric choke. Has chrome accents such as valve covers, open-element air filter and shock tower brace. Electronic ignition with fat, red silicone plug wires. New underhood wiring harness and battery cables. New battery. Engine cooling includes an aluminum flex fan, new plastic fan shroud, 20" four-row oversize radiator ('69 Mustang style), with all-new hoses. Engine temp. does not exceed 180 degrees, despite 90-plus degree outside temperatures with the A/C on. Rebuilt factory-type A/C compressor, with R134A refrigerant. Newly rebuilt alternator. Dual horns. EXHAUST: Hedman ceramic coated headers, specifically made to clear the power rack and pinion steering unit. Magnaflow aluminized 2-1/2" mandrel-bent exhaust pipes and mufflers. Has a nice rumble around town and mild, pleasing tone at cruise speeds, with good ground clearance. TRANSMISSION AND DRIVESHAFT: Professionally rebuilt AOD overdrive automatic, by Augusta Transmission Clinic, Augusta, Georgia. With the overdrive and 3.25 rear end ratio, the car cruises effortlessly and smoothly at 70 mph. New driveshaft is balanced, with new universal joints. WHEELS AND TIRES: New Bullet polished 16 x 8 wheels with Mustang logo centers. New Yokohama 225 x 8 x 16 tires with directional tread. Car is also advertised locally and may be sold to a local buyer if the reserve has not been met. You are welcome to see the car if you are in the Orlando, FL area.
