Vehicle Detail

NOTE: eBay cancelled my first listing due to bad wording concerning 'Seller accepting cash'.The correction was made and the item was relisted quickly with no further issues. 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport Fastback or Sports Roof This Torino is equipped with all of the VERY DESIRABLE Extra Heavy Duty “FORD” ‘Go Fast’ parts! ATTENTION!!!! 73 Torino with a “Shaker” Ram Air System??? Over the years, I’ve seen a couple of ‘Shaker’ equipped 73’s being auctioned on eBay. I’ve seen one other 73 Torino w/Shaker at a car show near Danville, VA. However, the Experts tell me this is NOT original equipment on the 73 Torino! DESCRIPTION: I am the second owner of this Bench Seat and Column Shift car. I’ve owned the car since 1988. A partial restoration was completed in 1991. Now, the car still has the paint from 91, plus the original pair of Laser Stripes installed at that time. The car has, mostly, been garaged since 1991. There have been brief times when I did not have storage for the car. The drivetrain (Motor, Transmission, Torque Converter and Rear Axle) was all rebuilt in 2004. Since then, there are less than 1,000 miles on the drivetrain. When the drivetrain was finished, a new exhaust system was installed from the Rare Original Exhaust Manifolds back. Also, the Original Radiator was re-cored at that time. The gas tank was dropped and sealed. All five Original Magnum 500 wheels are present (One for the spare). The Original Wheel Centers are there. The car stays in my garage and is very rarely driven. The car seems to be rust free, except for bubbles under the Vinyl Top. There are some minor dings and dents in the old paint. The Laser Stripes are old and cracking. The bumpers need to be rechromed. See pictures for bubbles, dings, dents, cracking Laser Stripes and bad chrome on bumpers. NOTE: New Laser Stripe Kits are available from Auto Krafters. The car rides and drives very nicely, although only the shocks have been replaced. It sits well in a curve. There are rebuilt brake booster and master cylinder providing a full & solid brake pedal. A shift from 1st to 2nd gear under moderate power will bark the tires. The Solid Lifters make a nice “tick ticking” sound. The engine idles as per a healthy cam profile, which sounds wicked coming through the dual exhausts. All the difficult to find bits and pieces are there. The car appears to be factory stock, but has been upgraded in places like the ignition system, with a hidden MSD box. It runs fine on Premium Unleaded pump gas. INSTALLED EQUIPMENT: 1. Ford ‘Shaker’ Ram Air Induction System (Complete). 2. Factory ‘Q’ Code 351 Cleveland 4V Cobra Jet Package. 3. If there is something you need to know about the car, please ask me. Please ask questions BEFORE you bid. NOTE: Although I believe the motor and transmission are matching numbers to the car, I make NO official claims that the engine block and/or the transmission case are matching numbers correct. These are the same that were in the car when I bought it. I’ve owned the car for almost 25 years. I was not able to speak with the first owner of the car, so I don’t know what he did to it. OF CONSIDERATION: There exists FOUR “Ford” Over-The-Counter parts upgrades. The engine has the “Ford” Aluminum Intake, “Ford” Holley Carburetor & “Ford” Aluminum Valve Covers installed. It is ‘PROBABLE’ that these “Ford” OTC items were installed after the car arrived from the factory. The same is ‘probably’ true about the existence of the ‘Shaker’ Ram Air System. These look as though they belong on this car, but experts tell me these parts DO NOT belong and HAVE BEEN added. ALSO: The Data Tag in the door jam states that the car had a standard C6 transmission (Four Disc Clutch Pack) with a 3.25 standard rear axle. Obviously, these have been upgraded. When the transmission was rebuilt, the mechanic told me the case had already been machined to accept the heavy duty clutch pack. As for the rear pumpkin, it had a tag that stated it came from a 71 Ford truck. This tag allowed the correct rebuild parts to be located for a truck 9 3/8” Ring Gear & Pinion, instead of for a car 9”. The housing for the Pumpkin appears to be the original Torino housing. I’m told that the 9” housing must be notched before the 9 3/8” pumpkin will fit. AND NOTE: The engine is not an original BOSS 351C engine. Those had engine blocks that used screw-in freeze plugs, not the normal press in kind. Plus, their aluminum intake manifolds had a base for a Ford Spreadbore carburetor and not for a Holley carburetor. WHY AM I SELLING: I’m selling to make room in my garage for other projects. Plus, the money from this sale will finance my other projects. AFTER the car is paid for, if you need time to arrange transport, I will store the car for up to one month. PLEASE NOTE! This 73 Gran Torino Sport should not be treated like it is a ‘Hot Rod’. It should be treated for what it is… IT IS AN “INVESTMENT” WARRANTEE!!!! THERE IS NO WARRANTEE… IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE!!!! On Feb-14-12 at 20:27:57 PST, seller added the following information: Block Matching Numbers: I've looked up the information necessary to find and to confirm the casting numbers and date on the engine block to verify that it is, in fact, the matching number block. Once I've done that and if it is the matching numbers block, then I can make that Official Statement concerning this. For those who desire matching numbers cars, this should be great information, if it checks out. I'm expecting to find the numbers on the passenger side of the engine just behind and/or above the starter. The numbers should be something like D2AE-CA. The date stamp should be earlier than the build date of the car. If someone has better information than this, please email me with instructions. I'll getter done.On Feb-19-12 at 17:14:41 PST, seller added the following information: This Auction is Ended!!! During a test drive, the engine stopped running. The mechanic hauled the car to his garage, but was not able to look at the problem indepth. He suspects an ignition problem, but won't be able to work on the car until the middle of or the end of this week. Once a repair has been performed, I'll relist the car again. I hope everyone will understand that I cannot sell a car that has a problem and is not currently running. This is not good for the potential Buyer and it is definitely not good for me.On Feb-19-12 at 21:44:29 PST, seller added the following information: THIS AUCTION HAS ENDED DUE TO DAMAGE TO CAR!! Do Not Bid!! Your Bid will be cancelled!! Snipe Bids will be cancelled even if placed at immediate end of Auction!!!
