Vehicle Detail

GREAT RUNNING CAR, PASSES MA INSPECTION, 30 MPG, DIESEL UP FOR SALE IS A VERY NICE, GOOD RUNNING, CLASSIC MERCEDES SEDAN. THIS IS THE FIN TAIL OR “HECKFLOSSE” BODY WHICH WAS ONLY MADE FROM 1958 TO 1968 IN THREE STYLES: BASE, S, AND SE. THIS IS A BASE MODEL, GREEN ON TAN, EXAMPLE. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ENTRY LEVEL CAR IN 1967. MANUAL WINDOWS, DOORS AND SEATS. NO A/C. GREAT RIDE, GREAT ENGINE. GETS 28-30 MPG ON DIESEL. PERFECT ENGINE FOR A BIOFUEL OR WVO CONVERSION. 4-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WELL, ALTHOUGH IT DOES TAKE SOME URGING TO GET INTO REVERSE. I THINK THE SHIFTER LINKAGE NEEDS ADJUSTING. THE BODY ON THIS CAR IS IN FANTASTIC CONDITION WITH NO ROT. THERE ARE SOME AREAS OF SURFACE RUST AND A DENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BUT IT IS ALL COSMETIC. INSIDE THE ROOF NEEDS A LINER (INCLUDED WITH SALE), AND NEW FLOOR MATS (OLD ONES INCLUDED IN SALE). ALSO NEEDS DOOR SEALS, REAR AXLE SEAL (VERY SLIGHT LEAK), SHIFTER LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT, AND BRAKE BOOSTER (BRAKES NEED A HEAVY FOOT, BUT WORK FINE). WORK RECENTLY COMPLETED: - NEW FRONT AND BACK GLASS (FROM GERMANY) AND SEALS, NEW REAR WINDOW REGULATOR. -BRAKES AND 2 NEW TIRES -RADIO WAS REPAIRED AND GETS GREAT AM RECEPTION -STEERING BOX WAS REBUILT -DRIVESHAFT & KNUCKLES REPLACED -RECENT OIL AND AIR FILTER CHANGES THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A CLASSIC MERCEDES AT AN ENTRY LEVEL PRICE. THIS CAR IS REGISTERED, INSPECTED, INSURED, AND DRIVEN REGULARLY. CLEAN TITLE IN HAND. SELLING BECAUSE OF TIME CONSTRAINTS AND I REALLY WANT TO SEE SOMEONE RESTORE THIS CAR PROPERLY. I HAVE BEEN THE STEWARD OF THIS CAR FOR 4 YEARS AND IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON. Car can be driven home!On Feb-12-12 at 11:58:52 PST, seller added the following information:To answer a buyer question, the brake fluid is a light amber color with no sedimentation or rust deposits in the reservoir. This indicates to me that the engine vacuum to the booster isn't the problem, it's something else. Also indicates that there hasn't been any transfer of brake fluid into the engine. On Feb-12-12 at 12:00:44 PST, seller added the following information:Another buyer question: The car is drivable. Please read the description above. The car is registered, insured, and inspected in Massachusetts. If you know anything about cars, you know Massachusetts is a pain when it comes to this stuff. The car works. It just needs TLC.On Feb-12-12 at 12:04:37 PST, seller added the following information:Another buyer question: My rock bottom price for this car is $2750. After that I will keep it. The rear and front glass alone for this car cost $1400, shipped from UK. I also spent $175 getting the radio fixed, $200 on window seals, $400 on the driveshaft, $250 on a window regulator, $200 on a full tune, $100 on the new headliner, and $300 on motor mounts. Plus a few other items. Place a bid an let's play ball! Also, only bid if you intend to PAY!On Feb-12-12 at 12:25:16 PST, seller added the following information:NEW IMAGES ADDED: I have added about another 20 images to the VUVOX slide show on this listing. More pictures of the underside of the body, frame, engine bay, door bottoms, etc. I am not trying to hide anything. This was a west coast car and it shows. Not a rust bucket! Thanks. On Feb-12-12 at 19:09:59 PST, seller added the following information:Additional info from Buyer question: The trim panels under the dash are included and are currently in the trunk. I removed them to repair the radio and the driver's side heat valve (passenger side heat valve is still stuck, but moves a little more every time I work it). These panels are a very inexpensive this masonite and vinyl replacement. I kept the originals to use as a template, though they are pretty beat up.On Feb-13-12 at 16:28:54 PST, seller added the following information:Answer to Buyer Question: The car was not equipped with power steering or AC. These features are not original to the car. It doesn't need power steering to be driven. Steering is very responsive and works fine. Also, I am very hesitant to sell overseas. If you are overseas, assume that this is a US only transaction. Have a representative come in person with cash or a US-drawn bank check. Once the car leaves my property, I am not responsible for shipping or customs. Thanks
