Selling Another Classic European Sports Car I have been a classic car enthusiast for 9 years buying mostly Porsches Mercedes and BMW’s because in my opinion, nothing compares to German engineering. I have also helped several international buyers locate, purchase, and export these beautiful cars back to their place of origin for private collection therefore I accept and welcome bidders from around the world. Some vehicles I sell are my personal cars, others are ones that I am listing on behalf of others, but I always drive the cars and describe them to the best of my ability. Prior to bidding on any of my vehicles, please make sure to ask any questions as your bid is a binding contract stating that you accept the car in AS IS condition. All sales are final- I simply will not put up with anyone who is just shopping or wasting time. YOU MUST HAVE FUNDS READY TO MAKE FULL PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS PER AUCTION TERMS IN ORDER TO BID. I know that most ebayers and classic car collectors are stand-up people but there are a few out there who simply should not be buying cars online. I do my best to describe the cars as they are in my opinion but in order to make sure that the cars are up to your standards it is your responsibility to inspect the car in person or have your assigned agent inspect the car, otherwise you are buying the car based on my opinion only- I am not a certified car inspector or mechanic- just an enthusiast that has been around a lot of classic cars. That disclaimer being stated, here is the description I offer for this particular car: The high bidder will become the new owner of this beautiful 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo. This car has been owned by the same person since 1986 and it has obviously been well maintained throughout its life. It is not a garage queen, but is a very solid driver that you won’t be afraid to take out for regular drives, in fact you might just want it as your daily driver. The previous owner did just that when he bought it and drove it daily up until about 10 years ago, and since then it has been kept in storgae and brought out for occasional joy rides. This car loves to be driven and can’t wait for a new owner. It comes with the original owners manual, clean clear title, a bra, spare wheel, tool kit, and everything you see in the pictures. It runs great, handles well, drives straight, and has the classic lines you will only find in a 930. My overall assessment is that this car is in good condition and is a solid driver. It runs and drives very well and the motor pulls with a turbo boost that will still throw you back in your seat. It has been regularly serviced and has current tags. This car has a NADA classic car value of between $26,900 and $42,000 and these cars continue to climb in value year over year as they become harder to find. That being said this car will sell to the highest bidder- I believe that value is determined by what people are willing to pay for a car which is why I list cars at NO RESERVE. As mentioned this car is in good condition across the board- below is my very detailed an honest description of this car. Most people would just say “excellent condition” and not give all the details but I try to include everything, good and bad. Cosmetically this car is beautiful to look at inside and out and literally has everyone who sees it asking questions about it. There really aren’t any major issues inside or out- just typical wear and tear for a car with the mileage/age this one has. In fact I’d say the exterior is about what one would expect while the interior is above average, exceeding expectations compared to most Porsches I have seen from this era. The paint still shines up and looks nice but there are a few spots with surface bubbles and some stone chips- mostly on the front spoiler. It’s all you need for a driver but if you want a showroom finish you might go for a respray. Being white it is easy to keep looking good and clean. It was a non smoker so there are no foul smells . All the pans are solid including the battery housing and front clip. The door panels, carpets, front and rear seats are in excellent condition. There are no cracks in the dash and the headliner is in good shape. It has an Emerson Fittipaldi steering wheel that Nardi made for Porsches that gives it a unique flare. Mechanically the car is solid. The original 4 speed tranny shifts fine, the motor pulls strong, and it handles nice and tight. The previous owner had a lot of the typical oil issues taken care of and had a top end rebuild done including replacing the turbo around 50K miles ago. It looks to have all the key updates recommended for this year model. The brakes are solid and the suspension feels good. The car drives straight without vibrations or pulling one way or another. The AC components are all there and the previous owner says that it should all work but might need a freeon charge. It is honestly too cold for me to thoroghly evaluate the AC here and if you have had an older Porsche you know how crappy they work anyways so I can’t guarantee much in that regard. The sunroof works fine and the power windows are also working but they are very sluggish and need assistance with your hand helping the glass up and down in spots. The wheels are in good shape and the tires have good tread- the previous owner having put on new rubber and a new battery not long ago. I would feel comfortable jumping in this car today and driving it across the country. In summary, this is a hard to find 1978 930 that is a solid driver. I really like the attention this car gets from anyone who sees it. It would make a great classic sports car toy that still has a lot of life left in it- it’s really only at its half life for these motors. Feel free to ask questions prior to bidding. I can provide a reference for arranging very affordable transportation for this car to any state or port in the USA.
