0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false For auction is our 1966/2000…land rover series 2A, Car has been in our family since imported in early 2000. We contracted with Warwick 4X4 in England in mid 1999 to build us a series land rover to our specs. They started with a VERY rust free body they had had in storage for many years, repaired any spots that needed attention and removed it from its orig. Chassis and prepped it for install on the current chassis. Cost was 24K pounds in year 2000 (about $39K US dollars at the time). It rides on a left hand drive fully galvanized coil spring chassis that has late 80’s defender running gear under it. It has an LT230 transfer case in 1.4 high ratio, 77 series 5 speed transmission both rebuilt before install, and defender axle assemblies front and rear (rear drum front disc). Just installed were 5 Defender factory alloy wheels with new 235/85/16 BFG Mud Terrains (less than 100 miles since wheels and tires, cost was over $1400). Cruises nicely at 65MPH all day long. Has a little over 51,000 miles since built. Drives great since is full time 4 wheel drive with diff lock like a defender or discovery, very stable and will go anywhere. For an engine it has a fully rebuilt Turner 2.25 engine that was built to spec for the US roads featuring mildly ported head, 2.5 cam, and hardened seats for unleaded fuel, a Weber single carb. Spin on oil filter, alternator etc. It is the most leak free series rover I have ever owned. Runs GREAT and trouble free. Radiator was re-cored about 2 years ago…runs cool regardless of outside temp. Paint is Land Rover Bronze Green with White top, has never been waxed (we kind of liked the patina, but I waxed the rockers and in front of radiator to show it will shine if you want) Body is as solid as they come and rust free with the exception of the lower doors, they have some corrosion starting from behind and should likely be replaced if you wanted her to look perfect. Body is VERY straight otherwise (small dent in center of rear tailgate but minor). Also has small fender flares since defender axles are wider than series. Our Rover has spent winters in SC since coming to the USA and most summers in MT with us fly fishing…except for 2 years was in HI while my brother taught at the university. It is currently titled and registered in SC with standard title. Never in snow and has been garaged while in SC. It could be driven everyday if one wanted and could live with no A/C, the factory heater/blower was removed a year or two ago but comes with the truck; it has a slight leak and will need to be brazed to repair but works great otherwise and easy reinstall since hoses still there. Interior is decent, 3 seats (2 front plus 1 jump) and a big console all in good shape. Carpet is showing its age and could use a freshening. Also has Defender inertia reel seat belts to hold you in place and a tweed headliner. This is a great Series/Defender Rover and with a bit of TLC will be run indefinitely. Selling because as my business grows I have less and less Rover time and my family members now have families of their own and no time for her either…. we simply are too busy for the old gal. She deserves a great home. I will be happy to assist the winning bidder in helping deliver her to a local shipper if needed, she comes with lots of paperwork and manual and even has the original owners manual from 1966. Also a bunch of spare parts and another set of wheels and tires (white spoke) will come with her. I purposely didn’t do anything cosmetic to her before listing, I want you to see her as she is and has been for years not like some of the “rattle can” restorations and rust frames covered in undercoat I see on eBay lately. I have over 400 100% positive feedback on eBay including quite a few high dollar Rover and aircraft sales so bid with confidence that you are getting a great old series rover. I am happy to answer any questions about her, just email with a phone number. I have listed her for sale locally at the buy it now price and will end the auction early for local buyer if there are no bids so if you want her bid.
