Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1992 Ford Taurus SHO. I am the 2nd owner, and I wouldn't be selling it if I weren't trying to buy a house. Most 2nd generation SHOs are either high-mileage, riddled with rust, beat to heck, or a combination of the three. But this is a very clean, low mileage rust-free vehicle which has always been in California. When I purchased it 2 years ago, I ran an AutoCheck vehicle history report, which it passed with flying colors. The average AutoCheck score for this year and model was 15-36, this vehicle scored an 89! It is completely stock, except for the '90s-era cellular car phone that is still installed (but alas, not working). Equipped with the 220hp Yamaha 3.0 V-6, the SHO was quite the performance car in its day and is still a blast to drive today. While having the Crank Positioning Sensor replaced, I had the following work done as preventive maintenance: * New Water Pump * New Timing Belt * New Accessory Belts * New Old Level Sender/Gasket & Oil Pan Gasket Set (To stop an oil leak from the pan) * Power Steering Fluid Flushed * Coolant Flushed * Brake Fluid Flushed * Crankcase Oil Replaced with Castrol Full Synthetic Motor Oil and Mobil One Oil Filter * All work performed (except the fluids) by BAYSHO PERFORMANCE Remaining issues: * Power Antenna no longer operates, mast bent slightly. * Fog Lights don't come on. ( May be the fuse) * Stock stereo doesn't work great ( Sounds like a blown speaker(s)) * Emergency Brake Pedal missing rubber pad * Wiper switch works, but sometimes you need to wiggle it a little. * That's honestly all I can think of... The exterior of the car is in great shape, the 20 year old paint still looks very good. There is an area on the front passenger fender where it appears that at one time some corrosive liquid spilled on the fender and ate through the paint (See Photos). Its located next to where the battery is located, so it may have been battery acid? The interior is even better, no tears or cracks in the upholstery or the dash, only a couple of stains on the carpet. The car has NO MECHANICAL ISSUES WHATSOEVER. It runs strong, tracks straight and handles tightly. No Leaks. The brakes work great. A/C blows cold, heater blows hot. All accessories work the way they should except for what I listed above. I installed a new set of Cooper Tires recently which has help with the ride & handling considerably. I will include a new set of heavy duty bad-weather floor mats and anything else I happen to find. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit due 48 hours after the end of the auction. The balance must be paid in 7 days. The vehicle MUST be picked up by 2/25/2012. I have owned 4 Ford Taurus SHOs over the years, and this is by far the best one. I would not hesitate to get in it and drive it anywhere in the country. No disappointments with this vehicle.
