Greetings. Up for auction is a nice 1979 MG Midget, an older repaint in a factory color I believe was known as "Inca Yellow". This car was produced in 1979 which is the last year they were sold in the States. It is showing approximately 77,000 miles on the odometer which I believe to be correct. The title is clear and in hand, ready to transfer to the new owner. I've had the car a little over two years. It's a blast to drive and never fails to get attention wherever I go. This Midget is not a concours car, but it is an excellent project platform that's had a lot of work done to improve reliability, including: ? New HIF-4 carburetor and K&N air filter, to replace the original, troublesome Zenith water-choke carburetor. The HIF-4 was rebuilt by an experienced and knowledgeable member of the MG Experience forum New Pertronix coil and electronic distributor to replace the original (and infamous) Lucas electronic distributor and coil.Maintenance performed less than 1000 miles ago includes: engine oil and filter changed (Mobil filter and oil used), gear oil changed, valve adjustmentNew cast iron valve cover (original pressed steel unit included with car)New door mirrorsNew windshield visorsNew electric fuel pump, wiring, filter and linesVarious new light fixture-to-body seals replaced.New coolant temperature sender unit - the temperature gauge now worksNew heater coolant bypass valve (not the original style, actually a sturdier ball valve unit)New starter solenoidVarious new vacuum hoses and deteriorated wiring sections repaired/replacedAdditional breather unit for improved crankcase breathing I also have a number of repair manuals, enthusiast books, an operator's manual, and boxes full of miscellaneous and original take-off parts. ? Here are the things I know of that need attention. If you're at all acquainted with Midgets, the following list will sound familiar: Front tires wearing funny - probably needs at least an alignment, possibly new front end parts (see photos)The vinyl top has a couple of tears and dislocated snaps (see photos)Interior drivers-side carpet needs replacement, and the passenger headrest has a small slit in it.There is no spare tire.The plastic steering cowl is cracked. I have a good replacement that goes with the car, but will leave it to the new owner to installThere are some areas where the paint is peeling away from the original paint underneath (not visible from a distance, but can be seen on close inspection) - see photosVarious oil drips around oil pan and front seal - I just keep an eye on the oil level as it hasn't yet reached my "threshold of pain" to fixTransmission is whiny. Runs and shifts fine, and does not jump out of gear, but in the interest of full disclosure I wanted to mention it Please look at the photos closely and contact me through eBay's messaging system if you have questions or need more information.
