Vehicle Detail

This CRX is in excellent condition and people are always complimenting how great it looks, wherever I drive it. It is almost entirely OEM stock parts. The only exceptions are the stereo and tires. The body is in impeccable shape for being 23 years old and the paint has been meticulously maintained and still glows with the original Rio red color. The engine is rock solid and although it has over 200,000 miles, you wouldn't be able to tell from the way it handles. It purrs at a low 600rpm at idle and feels and sounds solid and steady whether putting around the city, or cruising on the highways. I am the third owner of the car, having inherited it from my mother, who cared for it as much as I do. My mom purchased it from the original owner in DC in 1998, so it's been in our family for 14 years. The car lived most of its life in southern California, parked in a covered carport, and then I brought it to Seattle, where I had a garage for it also and later it was driven to the East Coast. This car is my pride and joy and I am only parting with it because I am taking a long-term overseas assignment. I truly believe this car could last to 350,000 miles on the original engine! These cars are fantastic and this one is a rare find in great condition. The only body damage beyond minor wear and tear is a small ding/depression on the passenger's door (see photo), slight scratches on the right rear quarter panel and by passenger keyhole (see photos), some rock chips on hood and scratches on the front bumper (see photo). Mechanically, the only thing that has broken that I haven't fixed is the high beam lever, which means you can't turn on the high beams, but the headlights and turn signals work fine even though the lever arm is wobbly. Last year, I brought it in to the mechanic for a comprehensive tune-up and diagnostic, and I had them replace some basic items like the battery, belts, gaskets, etc. (see below). The air conditioning finally was getting low last summer, so I refilled it with coolant and now it blows cold!! This car has spent most of its life in a garage. Despite the minor damage described above, this car looks almost brand new when you're standing next to it and feels like like a tight sports car when you drive it. It's amazing that it is actually considered a CLASSIC now! I consistently get about 35mpg around town while driving it normally and have even gotten 40mpg on highway road trips! Here are some of the specs and history: ENGINE: zippy car with a 16-valve 1495 cc "D15B2" engine and Dual-Point Fuel Injection (DPFI) all hoses and belts were inspected last year and alternator and belt were replaced replaced valve cover gasket at which point timing belt was inspected and declared in good condition recent and regular oil changes, and all fluids fresh and functional does not leak or burn oil CarQuest battery less than 1 year old idles perfectly, runs clean and passed DC emissions less than a year ago well below DC's strict emissions limits spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap replaced last year the valve cover paint is peeling, but is cosmetic only and I am told is common for CRXs DRIVE TRAIN: very tight rack and pinion all boots and seals good clutch still feels tight and doesn't slip brakes are good TIRES: four new tires with approximately ~90% tread remaining, no cuts or gouges, and very even wear the aluminum wheels still shine and are in great shape with minor nicks and scratches INTERIOR: carpet is in excellent condition dashboard is in excellent condition with no cracks or wearing steering wheel is in good shape with some slight bleaching from sun door trim panels are perfect, except for slight wear from driver's elbow headliner is in great shape vertical trunk divider still works and snaps in, but its inner structure is brokenseats are in good shape with a small rip in driver's seat and the passenger's side has torn cloth on seat back by door smells nice, no odors of any kind - vehicle never smoked-in ashtray is missing STEREO: Clarion HD radio and CD player with auxillary 3.5mm plug-in for ipods speakers have been replaced with high-end speakers in front and rear BODY: no rust or rot paint job looks fantastic (see minor damage description above) doors, hatch, and hood all open and close well all window glass is in perfect shape and front windshield is two years old and without chips or cracks This car is used, and a 23 year old classic that you would think is almost new. But it does show some wear, even though it's much less than expected. There are the small dings and scratches on the body, the minor damage on the interior, and broken high beam switch, etc. But hey, if it were perfect, you wouldn't be able to afford it :)
