Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is our 1991 Geo Metro Convertible with a manual 5 speed transmission and a 3 cylinder 1L motor in terrific conditon. This vehicle is rust free and probably the nicest one you will ever see as they only made these for a few years & are getting more and more rare with each passing year. They are still very popular and respected for their bullet proof motors and gas mileage. Those of you that have been in the market for a while may remember that after buying my daughter a Geo Tracker I listed this car a few months ago and decided to drive it so I could comment on it from personal experience as I hadn't driven it since I test drove it with her & I had so much fun darting around town that I decided to keep it for myself and canceled the auction after only a few hours. I'm a rag top/sun roof/ t-top kind of guy.... I recently had it painted in my favorite two tone design and got rid of the go cart type tires that were mounted on 13" wheels changing them out with brand new after market 16" red powder coated Drag Racing Wheels and a new set of four 205/16/40 BF Goodrich tires with warranties to give it a wider stance and improve the handling while the tire diameter remained the same. I then bought some different vehicle accents from Auto Zone that stick on there and are easily removeable (With a blow dryer or heat gun) if one gets tired of them or just wants a change. I also had new trunk shocks put in as the other ones were wore out and I got tired of holding the trunk open with my head. I tracked down a brand new trunk spoiler that would fit (Ford Focus) as for some reason spoilers weren't an option and if you ask me a convertible without a spoiler is a minor offense. This car is equipped with air conditioning that blows cold & a heater that blows hot. Everything is functioning as it should and it always runs cool even in our harsh Nevada summers. My daughter and I purchased this car from the original owner here in Las Vegas. My daughter was the 2nd owner & I am the 3rd as I had the title put in my name so she could get her DMV credit. The smog was done in early November so it is still with in the 90 days for any Nevada residents. The vehicle drives smooth & shifts smooth. It is responsive and surprisingly quick for such a small motor. You can expect 35-40 miles to the gallon depending on your driving pattern and how much freeway action you do. It is equipped with a driver's side air bag and the original AM/FM Cassette that sounds wonderful. The cassette player works & I've been using a cassette tape that plugs into your Ipod which is also included. It has a dash cover and new rubber floor mats, seat covers, steering wheel cover & shifter cover & knob. When I took over the car (and there is a photo below that shows the original white color) the first thing I wanted to address was the convertible top as it looked a little drab and the rear window was cloudy due to sun light. I purchased a black convertible vinyl top paint off ebay and applied it and boy did it make a difference the top looked brand new. Unfortunately it didn't stay that way and now likes to peel off in random places so then you have nice dark black patches next to drab black patches. I also purchased a plastic window kit to clear up the rear window and then after deciding to paint it I then decided to purchase a new convertible top. Due to the color combination I chose to get a white top (as I've read they hold up better and it would match. my daughter says yes but my wife prefers the black one. I think it will give it more of a unique look as just about everyone has a black top) and purchased new one from a respectable dealer off of Ebay. It was never installed although I did down load and print off instructions for those that like a challenge. I was going to have an upholstery shop do it as I'm not that guy. It is brand new & still in the box and if one prefers black you may be able to exchange it. Included with the new top is some additional rubber molding as they are pretty tough to come by & quite expensive and I also purchased several ($20-$25 a piece) of the hold down release blocks in case one were to break. The top goes up and down smoothly and stores away out of sight in the rear plastic boot. There is an abundance of room behind the two seats for storage and a cool vinyl flap to hide things behind and to have access into the truck from inside. Anyway that's all I can think of for now so email me with any questions or if you would like to talk in person send me you phone number that way I can control incoming calls. I live near Las Vegas so you can fly into McCarran Airport I can pick you up and you can drive it home or have it shipped. I've always used the Ebay recommended Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) when I purchase a vehicle that is too far away to reasonably drive home. Although I've done my best to describe the vehicle one should remember that it was built in 1991 and although I feel comfortable in saying that it has many fine decades left in it I can't guarentee that so that being said there is no warranty expressed or implied. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction ending and the remaining balance due within 7 days of the end of the auction. I am easy going and willing to work with you on when the car can be picked up as long and the financial part is covered first. After I receive payment I will send you the title and bill of sale. GOOD LUCK!! On Jan-26-12 at 15:37:09 PST, seller added the following information: A few other things that came to me when I was outside. I had professional top of the line tint installed on the two side windows and the windshield which keeps the glare and heat off ya but the negative is the tint made it so you can now see scratches on the driver's side window from outside the vehicle not visible from inside though. Another cool thing is the green shifter light on the dash still functions advising you when to shift for optimal gas miledge. The gal we bought it from was super cool and she truly loved this car you could tell when she was selling it and you can tell by how well she took care of it. On Jan-26-12 at 15:53:30 PST, seller added the following information: I was just asked how much I paid for the tires & rims I'm thinking they want to get a set for themselves. Installed with the warranty & all the other add on charges was over $1100.00 but boy do they set this car off so they were worth every penny & as I mentioned before the handling noticeably improved. The only draw back is you feel more bumps do to the thinner side walls but again well worth it the trade off as I was advised of this before my purchase but I saw a similar set, same size, of these tires on a sweet yellow one on youtube. Look it up it's a sweet yellow Geo (not hard to find) that sold a few years ago and it has the side skirts that are off a Suzuki 1989-94 GTi I guess they bolt right on with minimal problems. I think those would finish this car off but they would be a chore to locate unless you live in California with plenty of salvage yards. On Jan-26-12 at 18:12:25 PST, seller added the following information: The picture I just added shows the extra convertable top rubber weather stripping which I believe I bought for around $80.00 like I said very rare and four of the convertible top release blocks. Two for right side & two for the left side and I believe there are two or three already in the glove compartment. The last thing you see pictured is a new unopened set of Geo mud flaps that I decided not to put on. All included of course.
