Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1965 Mustang Coupe. I am selling the car only because I have too many other projects. I have owned the car since January of 2009. Before that, a close friend of mine owned it for approximately five years. So I am familiar with the last eight years of the car’s history. The car is in excellent mechanical condition. It has a 289 engine and C-4 automatic transmission. It uses absolutely no oil in a three-thousand mile period. It starts and runs great with plenty of power. During the time that the previous owner had the car, he had to have the transmission and rear end rebuilt. The transmission shifts firmly and works great. I have done numerous small mechanical repairs, such as all new brakes, tie rod ends, rebuilt carburetor, electronic ignition, U-joints, fuel pump, tail light buckets, and dash lights. I recently put a brand-new set of headers on the car to eliminate some prior exhaust leaks. The battery is also very new. The original equipment that does NOT work on this car is the AM radio and the air conditioner. It does have an after-market radio in the glove box that is functional. Everything else on the car, including all lights, windshield wipers, heater and the controls, etc. work as they should. The windows operate properly, and all of the weather stripping is still intact. The car has been repainted once, approximately fifteen years ago. It had a good amount of rust before then on the body. The person who did the body work chose to do what was a “cheap” job in my opinion and did not properly fix the rust. When I got it, most of the body filler was cracking and falling out, and the rust was becoming exposed again. During the time that I have owned it, I have gone around the whole car and cut out all of the previous rust that I could find and replaced it by welding in after-market patch panels. This includes both new rear quarter panels, passenger side door patch panels, and passenger side fender patch panels. By doing this, I believe I have eliminated virtually all of the rust from the exterior shell. I have only put one coat of filler over all of my patch panel seams. A few more coats will need to be applied and sanded to finish out the body. But, for the most part, the majority of the body work is done. There is still a very small amount of rust on the bottom of the inside of the doors. I also installed new lower door hinge assemblies. I believe that this car is factory with the 289 motor and C-4 tranny that is in it now. I assume that the motor was rebuilt when it was repainted. It also has the factory air conditioning unit in it, which still has a functional blower motor. I have the original compressor as well, but I removed it because it was locked up. I have put 18,000 miles on this car in the three-year time period that I have owned it, and it has never left me stranded. The mileage is not the greatest, averaging in at about 14-15 mpg. The tires are fairly new and have at least 60% tread life left. The only leak that the car has is a minor seep from the transmission. I am asking for a personal or cashier’s check as payment in full and will release the car and its title when the payment clears the bank. It will be the buyer’s responsibility to arrange for pickup or shipping of the vehicle, and I take no responsibility after the end of the sale. I consider this car to be very reliable and would not be afraid to take it on a long trip. Thank you for looking, and if you have any questions, please Email me.
