Vehicle Detail

1962 Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier Van with 4-speed manual transmissionTwo carbs, four gears, six cylinders and no radiator This is an 1962 Greenbrier with 4-speed manual transmission. My friend John and I bought this off Craigslist from a guy in California last year. We replaced both carburetors, gaskets, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and put in a Pertronix electronic ignition kit. We installed new exhaust manifolds on both sides with new gaskets and hardware. We also put in new air filters, gas filters, oil filter, fuel pump, belt, flushed the crankcase and refilled it with all-synthetic oil. There were no serious leaks, but we also replaced the oil pan gasket with a new Fel-Pro anyway. The oil is still clear. We have receipts if you want them. We were in the process of putting on a new exhaust when we decided to sell it instead. We have an old exhaust off another Greenbrier you can have if you want it. We also have a rear bumper if you want. Someone replaced the original dashhead gauge pod with one from a Turbo Spyder. That might have been the same person who cut a hole in the dash and installed a clock from another car. The front bucket seats are from some other vehicle, but there is a two-piece frame for an original Greenbrier front bench seat that could be recovered that comes with it. The body has at least four coats of different colors of paint and a few dents and dings, but very little rust or corrosion, so we suspect it was a California car its whole life. The engine starts hard, probably mostly due to our ignorance as to how to tune it, but runs strong once you get it going. Brakes are good, as they look like they were redone recently by a previous owner. The flexible hoses look new at all four wheels. All four side windows roll up and down. Transmission shifts well and is a blast to drive. We love it, but it's an old van, so it's offered for sale strictly in "as is" condition. The tabs are current until the end of April 2012. The seller didn't give us a California title, so we had it inspected by the Washington State Patrol, and the van is now about one year into a three-year Washington state registration without title (sometimes known as a "title in doubt") which we will sign over to you on pickup. Because there is no exhaust past the manifolds, you will need a tow dolly or trailer. Bidding starts at just $1, no reserve. A deposit of $100 is due via PayPal 24 hours after auction close. The balance is due in American US cash on pickup. Pickup must be no later than two weeks (14 days) from auction close. If you fail to make the deposit, expect to see the vehicle relisted immediately. Bidders with zero or negative feedback: email me before the end of the auction to let me know you're serious. If you don't, expect to have your bid canceled. Sorry, but there's been just too many deadbeats and jokers. Thanks and happy bidding. Please email me with questions. If you need any more vintage audio gear, classic car parts or computer peripherals, please see my other auctions. I probably have something running. If you win more than one auction, I will combine items to save shipping costs.
